Procharged with 317's inside

Quick question. What have you guys done to the 317's as far as porting and spring choices for 12-15 # of boost on an iron 370. I had a set of cnc'd 243 heads, and I know the 317 are pretty much stock, will the fact that they don't have the flow numbers like the 243's hurt hp much, or will the F1 make up the difference, or would you advise cnc'd 317's. Money is an object. Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year.

dont bother porting them if money is an object.just throw some double valvesprings on them, use stock rockers, good pushrods and call it good.

the ports are the same on 317 heads and 243's the difference is the cumbustion camber size.

243 and 317 heads have the same basic ports, but your 243 heads are cnc'd so they will flow better. I see what you are asking. What has been done to the iron block, what pistons and compression ratio is it going to be at? How much boost are you looking to make, and on what type of gas? Bob

Just decent pistons and rods. Stock crank and all. Working on a good STEALTH type of cam. VERY stock sounding, that will make HP up to about 6400. I don't plan on turning 7200 like I did NA. Any good stealth type cam suggestions guys, and thanks for the good advice.
I was origanlly asking about gains from CNC 317's over STOCK 317's. Or will the fact that it's boosted it will be much less of a difference. That was my question.
Thanks.

i'd leave 'em stock. best stealth FI cam is the LS6.

If not stock I'd just hand touch up the pockets and smooth off some of the edges if you can do it yourself. Maybe a good valvejob, etc.

Thats pretty much what I did as well just clean up the ports and port match it to the intake being used. If you can polish the combustion chambers at least. Came out good and only took a full day.

Check out the power we made with this 346 with Compstar rods and Diamond pistons, Lingenfelter GT2-3 (baby cam) camshaft, Patriot LQ9 stage 2 heads and an ProCharger D-1SC at 16 psi of boost. Bob
