Turbo tuning guru's needed

Can someone take a look at my 2bar tune? I just posted in HP TUNERS but thought I may get more results in this forum

I have been street tuning (seat of the pants) within the 2400-3600 rpm & 0.32 - 0.68 g/cyl range and have found as I increase timing in this area just before the onset of boost, crisper part throttle acceleration and performance. Keep in mind that this is 6800 lb tank and not a 3200 lb rocket.

I’m afraid I may be leaning towards too much timing and do not know when I have gone too far. I have NOT encountered KR yet, but I have tweaked the Knock sensors somewhat. Please look in these areas also. Tuning this vehicle has been a long process but very rewarding so far.

I would appreciate any constructive input

There must be someone that will take a look and critique

Thats not a 2 bar sd tune..............did I not see the right file?

My 2 bar sd tune timing would look different. I would ask about intercooling and water/meth also. I run the least amount of timing at the torque peak. 17 on top seems like alot also, but there are other factors . Does it reach 15 psi? Ambient temps? Intercooling? compression? etc....

Its also, possible, (esspecially on aftermarket cranks) to acidentally change the actual timing at the reluctor wheel. Either advancce or retard probably up to 5 degrees. Theres probably that much play in the fixture that locates the rel on the crank. So seen timing on the laptop may not be actual timing.

HP Tuners OS, 2 Bar OLSD, Timing at peak torque is 14.5* @approx. 4800
Intercooled without meth, 93 octane only. HP Tuners report between 195-203KPA's varies a little dependent on ambient temps, etc.
Tial wasetgate controlled by spring only.

EGT's at cruising rpms did lower slightly with increase timing in same ranges.
Is there a way to tell when I have increased timing too much in these mid RPM/Kpa areas without dyno? I have read on this forum that damage can and has been done even without KR being reported.
Seat of the pants feel does tell me the engine likes timing in this 2400 -3600 zone but at what expence?

The file I saw, peaked at 17......and the map was a 105 kpa max....?

It also had no BE table?

TXZ0603 Mar 9, 2009 05:34 PM

What is the vehicle this is on? Where is your 110 and up table?? Where is you BE table??

Louis Mar 9, 2009 06:00 PM

Same here, no BE table nor extended VE....

slow67 Mar 9, 2009 10:08 PM

On his VE table i see 30 kpa to 210 kpa

TXZ0603 Mar 9, 2009 10:18 PM

I renamed it when I saved it.

TXZ0603 Mar 10, 2009 12:41 PM

thats weird. Ill tryrenaming and see what it does

TXZ0603 Mar 10, 2009 12:46 PM

Nope. Tried it on 2 diferent machines and same thing. Strange how yours see it.

1320 Mar 10, 2009 02:55 PM

I looked again, I dont know whats going on, its like some people are seeing one thing and some others, something else.

Did you do an entire write after the sd 2 bar was applied?

Whats the 2 bar ve table look like?

The thing I noticed about the timing table I saw......was that the timing seened very very high. Like 15 at the lowest and for what I wouldnt consider any real time. Then again, I m probably not looking at the right file.

OK Let me try and post the file again.
Maybe its a the way some have there HP Tuner software set up. I dont know if the 2bar requires different settings than that of a standard file or not.

TXZ0603 Mar 10, 2009 07:22 PM

is the same. No diferent settings needed. Not sure where the rest of your file is. You might try contacting the admin on HPTuners forum and ask some questions. Before anyone asks, I have the latest software.

1320 Mar 10, 2009 07:40 PM

Its the same for me too. I see......maf air flow......maf freq table....a ve table that goes from 15kpa to 105.......PE with big numbers in it, for a sd tune and NO BE TABLE.

With sd, you ad up all your enrichments tables, so they look reduced if you view only one. pe + be = your enrichment....right? Ah its been awhile since I ve played with the vette, I might be losing my mind. The last tune I did, was a 96 chevy truck of all things.

On aside note, since this thread is pretty screwy already, I got my very own motorcycle dyno today......

HA, I just read your sig, your a turbo fool!!!!
