It's kinda off topic but... Is antone running a transmission blanet/shield on there higher hp procharged cars? I have a procharged 451 lsx with a F1C in the works and i was considering some type of cover over the TH400. What you guys think? Is it worth the $$$? |
yes! trans blanket is required by NHRA and its good to protect your legs with that much power, which with that combo is gonna be a shitload |
There were pics up not long ago of a srt8 jeep that came apart "not at high rpms iirc" It was horrific dammage. Went thru the pass side of the tunnel luckily. EDIT: found it http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2009/01...921-wheel.html Money well spent!! |
Ive always wondered that if a trans can blow up and go THROUGH the metal floorboard, and have the potential to supposedly cut someone's leg off, how is a trans blanket going to stop it? What are those things made of?! |

Yea, I was thinking that was probably it.. Still tho, I'd like to see how well they actually hold up. I mean, do they stop the trans parts from going thru the blanket, or does the blanket just shred, but take enough of the inertia out of the shattered parts to not go through the floorboard? |

And yes it is mandatory to have a blanket/shield on a higher hp car, even besides the fact that the NHRA makes you have one. |
I have both a trans blanket AND a bell housing blanket. Ive heard too many stories of clutches exploding coming up through the car through the windshield. Rather be safe than sorry. |
