Default 403 l92 turbo build advice needed.

I am throwing together a 403 inch l98 motor, ( 4.005 bore 4.00 stroke ) with l92 heads and planning to run a S475 turbo front mount.

I will be using this as a dual purpose street/strip combo, planning on using fairly low boost (6-8psi) on the street with pump gas and high (12-16psi) at the track with race gas, E85, or methanol injection.

My question to the forum is in regards to static C/R.

In the import world a with a mild turbo set up (6-12psi) and a proper inter-cooler, 10.0/1 C/R is commonplace. In fact it is often preferred over a lower C/R due to the improved off boost performance.

Also, it is not unheard of for N/A LSx motors to run 11-12.5/1 C/R on 93 octane fuel.

I would like to build the the motor with the highest static C/R that is reasonable for 6-8 psi on pump gas, and judging from the many turbo'ed and supercharged stock engines I've read about, 10/1 CR should be safe for pump gas and low boost.

am I on the right track here? my instincts tell me that if procharger sells a kit set at ~6psi boost on a stock 10.5-11/1 motor, 10/1 is a safe bet.

The only issue i will have is finding pistons, it seems that its either ~10.8/1 with a flat top or 9.0ish/1 with a big dish.10.8/1 just seems to be asking for trouble with boost.

Wondering how many guys are running higher than the generally accepted 8.5-9/1 C/R on LS motors, I know Wildracing is running 10.2/1 with methanol and the same turbo.

Also wondering what a safe boost level would be on a 10/1 motor with race fuel or E85?

Thanks, Joe
