L92's and boost

Who's boosting with L92 heads? Are these heads good with boost or is a stock 6.0 head a better choice?

I do not remember where i read this, it was on this site or gm high tech, but once you start really pushing on those heads, they lift and dont just blow out gaskets they crack around the head bolt holes 700ish hp range if i remember right

So stock 6.0 heads will make less power technically with their 210cc intake runner vs. the 260cc intake runner of the L92 head. Do the stock 6.0 head hold up better than the L92's? Just more durable or what?

Is it pretty easy to make 600ish rwhp with the L92's with some boost? It sounds like a pretty safe hp goal.

hate to say it but try a search. The search button is your best friend.

I beleive 600 horsepower will be fine on l92's. but you could just save some coin and run stock truck 317's and they have a thicker deck and less cc's. 600rwhp is bot pushing those heads that much at all.

Because I already bought them:D I am wanting to do a n/a 6.0 maybe with a carb and L92's and then move up in the future to fuel injection and a turbo. But then I will have to buy a different intake for the L92's when I go injected. Or should I skip right over the carb setup and go with the fuel injection? Oh decisions.:bang:

I make 780whp through my L92's with no problems and I have never had a head lift yet. I run 15psi through them.

Now thats what I want to hear. What cam has worked good for you?

I have had my l92 on for over 2 years and several 9 and 10 sec passes on it. I used ARP head studs torqued to 80. I used stock MLS gaskets for a 4'' bore. I also put a little yamabond on both sides of the gasket and some on the gasket itself and I will gurantee you it works.

As far as cams go I have had 2 different combos. The better cam was the first one I had ground 232/240 590 608 115lsa. If I were to change anything from the first cam I would probably put it on a 116. My latest cam sucked and was a 239/255 620 620 114lsa. It actually helped me lose about 4psi and a pretty good bit of torque under the curve.

Wow that big of a lift huh?

Are the factory L92 intakes pretty limited performance wise? What are my choices for stock intakes? L76,L92 and Ls3?

ZLEEPER Jul 7, 2009 07:12 AM

I switched from the factory intake (L92) at the recommendation of a good mechanic. Switched to a carb style. There was a concern that the #7 cylinder ??? had a tendancy to run leaner than the others causing problems.
