What's the realistic MAX for a MAF w. FI? My question is relatively simple - I'm curious what the realistic max you can feed through a stock (or aftermarket) MAF and still have the car function right. I'm planning on going with a D1 Procharger, but a SD tune won't work so well where I live (Altitude is between 5,000 and 12,000, temperature differences between -10 and 105 through the year, sometimes almost on the same day), so I'm trying to avoid that (or having to swap tunes constantly). |
you can do 500whp on a stock maf. |
I'm curious of results with the ABACO mafs or anything similar. |

A MAF limit to read is around 8lbs of boost depending on the setup.You can tune a car over 1000rwhp with a stock MAF being used. |

A 1" MAF will max out at 150 hp. a stock 75mm MAF will max out at 500 rwhp. A stock 85mm maf will max out around 600 rwhp. A 100mm MAF will max out around 750~ rwhp. Your limit in the PCM is 512 g/sec, and 12k hz. Larger maf housing= higher ceiling. Take that info and use it to your advantage ;) |

85mm MAFs from TRUCKS max out MUCH sooner than our stock F-body MAF. I maxed one out last week with a H/C car that made 442rwhp on the dynojet that I tune on. You can operate in maxed-MAF territory, but you will get WOT AFR swings that are dependent on the outside climate. If your tuner uses HPTuner's, you CAN run totally SD WITHOUT FAILING THE MAF. Yep, not a single code. I would suggest you ask your tuner up front if he is SURE that he knows how to do this. |
