Let's debate this cam for a PT88 370ci turbo build. I am thinking of trying out one of those Comp LSL lobe cams. I'm thinking 231/231 .624/.624 115+1. I like the look of it on paper for a front mount PT88 370ci build. Details: LQ9 Iron Block (370ci) 4.030 Wiseco 25cc dish pistons Stock Crank PT88 front mount turbo AFR 225 heads w/ 60cc Chambers Truck manifolds (2) 2.5" pipes into a T4 flange 4" DP all the way out to right before the rear axle TH350 transmission with 4200 or so stall S60 rear with 3.55's Would love to discuss the pros and cons of it. Open to suggestions. |
Looks like a good cam, on paper like you said, the lift is a little high for my liking but if its not a daily, f*ck it! LSA sounds good too. I also have a 370 on boost but I went with a traditional split 232/240 .595/.608 115, mine is almost a daily driver and I am very happy with this cam so far. Get some good springs and valvetrain to handle that lift and you should be golden. |

My set-up is rear mount, daily driven with some track. I would think the 408 would like that crane cam much more than a 370. The 231/231 .624/.624 115+1 your looking for on the 370 sounds good, I'd just check the valve train more than routinely on that kind of lift. |
The more I look around the more I think that perhaps I need to lower the LSA a little. Maybe get down to 112-113 +0. |
id bring the lift down some like .020 my friend mark was making 1200 wheel with his front mount with about .600 lift. it would also be alittle bit better on V-train down the road. give the spring some room to handle the boost as well as the valve just my .02 cents bro |

It's just incomplete. |
im not tracking here what do you mean not knowing ? im lost on what you mean. |

I made the final decision to go 231/231 .624/.624 115 +2. We'll see what happens. I'm not really all that concerned about the lift with the dual gold springs in there. I've seen more lift with springs still good after a couple yrs. |
In my old 6ltr. motor(377ci). I had a comp cam. It was a single pattern cam. Specs were 605 lift and 240 duration@50 on a 114lobe sep. I make the most of 1089rwhp with this cam and it sounded very nice as well. I would raise your duration and lower your lift a little. You want the valves to stay open longer to let the exhaust exit for the turbo and the intake charge fill the cylinders with as much forced air as possible. |
I just got my AFR's back from the machine shop. My block should be assembled by Tuesday. I need to get this cam on order. I think that it will perform well. Hopefully I will be up and running in the next 2 weeks or so. |
