Procharged TA, pesky squeak! Please help! I can not figure this out for the life of me, I have taken it to a shop and they dont even know. Has anyone ever encountered this? I'm pretty sure its coming from the back of the motor/tranny area. Could it be a torque converter? Or can they even squeak like that? If so what would cause that? I wanna fix this soon cause its annoying lol. Thanks for any help! Video below. 2001 Procharged LS1, 5psi, 26,000 miles, Automatic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E1Fuijzy0A |
it might sound like its coming from the back of the block, but i would consider checking the bearings in the supercharger. Thats just one thing i would check into looking at, i dont know if you did already, or not. |
That is a annoying squeak. To me it sounds like a metal on metal noise. My first thought was a belt though. I'm curious to what others think. |

And its more audible under the car than on top. Checked all the belts, all tight, checked tranny fluid, its good. I'm just out of Ideas :( |
front pump bushing at the tq converter.... any fluid leaks from the bellhousing? |
can you unbolt the torque converter & run it? |
New updates, driving its very faintly there. When I stop and put it in neutral, drive or reverse and rev to to about 1000 it stops. let off the gas and it starts doing it again. Think its the bushing? That hard to change? |

Is it with AC on or Off? Mine sounds the same - with mine it's the AC or the tensioner pulley. When I start the car with the AC on - it makes same sound as yours. Start the car with the AC off and it does not squeak. Mine sounds like yours too like it is coming from inside the engine near the back passenger side but it's my AC pump that is squeaking. |
Are you by chance running the SDCE setup? I just installed mine and a squeak just like this is present now. Same conditions that you are describing only I'm M6. |
I've got the SDCE seup and no squeak here...that sounds bad though lol....any pullies rubbing anywhere? Cant really pin point that one |

Maybe one of the bolts on the TC started backing out? I made sure to throw some blue loc-tight on mine. |
