whats the smallest physical sized 88mm turbo?

i am looking to upgrade from my tc78 but space is definatley a factor for my trucks engine bay. I want to make more power at the same boost level compared to the tc78. I made 560whp @10psi with the tc78 on my 370 and plan to go to 15-17psi. I have been looking at a t4 pt88 but want to know what the physical size is for other comparable turbos. Thanks

What AR is your turbine housing? Crank that sucker up. Could you just upgrade to the T78 compressor housing? It was my understanding the difference between the TC78, T78, GTM78, and Super T78 was the size of the compressors. The exhaust side is all the same.

I believe the smallest would be the PTE t4 88.

I will be putting the tc78 on my typhoon so a whole new turbo is in order.

What's(if any) is the difference between the pt88 and pte88? I always see pt and pte thrown around but I don't know what's what.

No difference its just how people are abbreviating Precision Turbo. They do make a couple turbos that are t4 and 88.

We have carried the TC78 over 800whp, are you looking for more then that?

ohshixgoat 01-03-2010 10:16 PM

keep the turbo or buy a identical one. your not even pushing the limits to the 78. read some threads and do your homework. you could easily be unsatisfied by buying a 88 and not seeing much more results on 10psi. I know I would be pissed if I put a 88 on and didnt see any gain besis more lag..(imo)

The whole reason I want to get a new turbo is because I have to by another one so I figured I would just go bigger. I know bigger isn't always better but if I can get 40 more hp out of a 88 compared to the 78 it would be worth it to me. Would I not see that type of gain at 15~psi?

hellbents10 01-03-2010 10:33 PM

Yes you will see a bit more power with the 88 under 700whp, but is it worth it?

The little TC unit will rock out to 800whp, if you want more then I would go with a PT88.

A big factor in your decision should be the type of racing/driving you do.

The truck is 90% street truck. The goal for the truck is high 9's at 3700lbs on 15~psi. For me the bigger factor is that I have to buy another turbo so do I get a tc78 again or go bigger. I don't really see lag being a huge deal because I have ne problems now with my 3400 stall. The extra 300 I would be paying would be worth just 40hp @ 15psi to me
