Would there be any benefit to portmatching 317s to the exhaust manifolds?

Default Would there be any benefit to portmatching 317s to the exhaust manifolds?

Im sure everyone here who has bought a set of used heads has seen the outline on them where the gasketmeets up. There is an area above and below the ports that fills up with soot. Any benefit in a turbo application to smoothing out the runner right in this area?

I dont plan on changing any of my ports internally, but thought it may be a good idea to go in about a 1/2"-3/4" and open it up to match the gasket and exhaust manifold, basically eliminating a low pressure area under the lip.

Anyone done it? worth the hassle

This isn't too much help, but on my old SHO with a 3.2L motor, I port matched everything and made 306hp to the wheels on 4psi.

It is not a big deal if the header inlet is larger than the port. I have port matched intakes on older V8's using machinist dye and scribing port location with the intake mounted. using the gasket as a template is not very accurate

yeah i guess if the lip was on the manifold side, it would be a much bigger problem. ill just leave them alone
