does it matter where the 317's come from?

does it matter what vehicle the 317 heads come off of or are they all the same? looking at some 317 off of an 05 silverado. looking to put them on my ls1. i know i have to run a 6.0 gasket. does everything else stay the same? i can use my stock ls1 push rods?

thanks!

they are all the same. If you dont mill or do anything to the heads then you should be fine with stock length.

There is not a lot of room for variations with the stock rocker arms. If the heads don't need surfacing and you use the same compressed thickness head gasket, you should be ok. It is pretty easy to apply some machinist dye to the top of the valve stems and hand turn the motor though a couple revolutions to check contact point. Better springs and hardened Push rods are also a good idea when you do this swap.

that looks sick....im in the process of making my own headers and fabbing everything up. should be done with everything except the turbo back exhaust withing the next week or so.

the engine is holding up pretty good. b4 i took it off the road for the winter it started smoking a little at wot. but only at wot. i think i have an oil leak somewhere and it was just smoking up (i hope). so ill be pulling the engine to tap the pan and ill be resealing it. hopefully that takes care of that.
