Default FINALLY...im going turbo...look please

.......its a little long.......

i have a few questions about this turbo kit i am getting...too late to return. its a 76 mm turbo front mount, the turbo location is where the battery goes. kind of like the old hp turbo kits but not...

-whats the best way to control boost? he ran it with just a 10psi spring??? but no controller? what is needed

-the headers are stainless but have a small crack at the collectors, what does it take to get the old, chipping coating off and i wanna paint black and wrap. will that work? and...just a stainless mig weld enough?

-should i go sd tune?

-is this a good turbo for this set up??? also where can i look at some nice turbo cams???

-best gear to run in 10 bolt...i kno i know...if it werent for the price of the kit my car would have a 9in. i have 4.11

now i know my car is NOT set up for for a turbo but tax returns rock and i got this car intending on turboin it so im doing it. Please what am i forgetting, i thought i knew alot about fi but now im second guessing myself. ive already lost 10k in this set up and now am ready for the big leauges.

please ask me questions so i know what all to get

thanks

You can run just straight spring but the psi spring you get is the only boost you can run. That is the advantage of a boost controller you can turn it down and off as much as you want.

Just MIG weld the cracks and wrap, it cuts down heat much better than coating and is cheaper. Wrap doesnt look quite as good and needs to be redone every year but its not bad at all. I went with wrap and coating(headers).

SD tuning is up to you, its harder to tune but is better overall IMO.

A 76mm should work just fine. Masterpower has a t76 thats reasonably priced, Modular Turbo is a good place to get them and alot of your parts(Wastegate, blow off valve, etc). EPP offers some blower cams, you can also find PatG and see about having him custom grind one.

Best gear depends, are you auto or m6? If auto 4.11s should be ok.

None of our cars were setup for a turbo, thats half the fun lol What the hell did you spend 10k on?

The 2 step pulls timing. Boost controller just does boost. I run the Ligenfelter and the AMS500 respectively and love both.

Off topic but what kit did u buy for 10k?? That's a ton of money for somethin u still need to weld.

Back on topic, you need to find a turbo specific cam, blower cams "will" work but you won't get a lot out of um. Blower and turbo cams are a lot different, trust me it happened to me!

do yourself a favor and find a 12 bolt, that 10 isnt going to like a turbo. and just so you know, the reason the 9 inch is so strong is its Hypoid Offset. Consequently, the 9 inch used 2 to 3% more horsepower over shorter offsets, so unless your planning on pushing 800whp+ the 12 bolt will go faster.

sorry, my old h/c/i and n2o setup. my car now has 10k worth of donkey dick cam and a pretty sweet n20 setup that im pulling for the snail

these turbo parts cost me verry little compaired to how much i thought id spend on a nice set up. ha lets put it like this i only got 2500 for my tax return and i have more then half left for goodies and only pulled 700 from my own personal money...2 exemptions, only me, for the last 8 yrs iva always owed 150-175 on my taxes now i have 5 months at my new job and made out this year...

the guy has a cam for it too but i kind of wanted a bigger one. the cam for sale is a 226/223 .595/.575 lift 115LSA but i want a mean sounding car like a sts but with som chop to it. and i dont know if i wanna put a used cam in it??? i was look at speed incs tu2 cam

I cant understand why people are more concerned with a choppy idle of a cam. Why not get a "turbo cam" that may not be as lopey but is optimal for a "turbo" car?? Personally I opt for a optimized cam and decent idle.
