Default Wana turbo, Did some research, got more q's.

I've decided I want to do a custom rear mount. So to start things off, I need to start with a block. I need to start chosing some parts. To do this I need to get answers to some Questions before I can start. This will be an LT1, 355 build. First off I will be doing the 24x conversion so I can run an LS style computer with coilpacks.

1) Is there a specific CR to aim for certain boost levels? example, at 18 psi, aim for 9.3:1 CR. (Pump gas IS a must)
2) Would wrapped mids or lt's be better than manifolds? Or will the heat trapping benifits of the manifolds outweight the free flowing benifits of the headers?
3) Is there a mathimatical equasion to predict average boost levels for given turbos vs the CI of the motor? I know that boost only builds once the turbo is supplying more air charge than the engine can consume normaly, and that the engines capabilities alter this. Like a stock 355 should build boost faster than a built head, cam intake, header etc motor does, because these improvements allow the engine to consume more aircharge, therefore lowering boost levels (and making more power at that lower boost).
Anyways, I kinda got off topic, but is there a way to guestimate boost levels?

if you are going to go rear mount i would have the compression at about 10:1 and spray meth.

also it is hard to say what CR you will need for 18psi, because 18psi on a t76 and t63 are two different things

Not to offend anyone, but I feel meth is a crutch. It should not be planned in the build, but added later as insurance. just my .02 I also believe 10:1 is too high a CR. I'm thinking somewhere between 9.3:1 to 9.8:1.

oh yea 9.8:1 and 10:1 is a very big difference

you will not be able to run 18 psi on a 9.8:1 motor on pump gas with no meth, unless you go e85

the reason why i was suggesting high CR because the turbo will spool quicker, and since he want's to go rear mount it should help him quite a bit.

if you want to run 18 psi and no meth on pump gas you need 8.5:1 CR

Default RM are finicky

Read Zombies threads then read them again. I did a RM 2 yrs ago and listen to the suggestion for higher CR...I went 8.5 so I could add more boost problem is off boost it is less responsive.

Many think Meth is only a crutch I disagree it can save your engine when you get bad gas or something changes and you detonate. Also it can be used instead of IC and help your boost come in sooner...

I recommend an MPT70 .96 a mild (stock camaro cam) build you should be able to max the MAF <3500 (Go SD) and put down ~500 rwhp with about 12 psi and have great DD.

Plan it wrong and it will take forever to build boost and feel like a brick on the street. Decide your target HP and useage before you start.

Good luck
