bettor or worse vacume source's?

after reading the sticky and other related threads, some people prefer different vacume port sources. so i wanted to get a public opinion as to who like to tap where for vacume for their bov and boost guage. i believe the wg is referenced before the tb so that doesnt much matter.

thanks

I have BOV and WG referenced off the EVAP port on the manifold and my boost gauge is on the back of the manifold. I would reference the WG after the TB...

interesting. ive read (on here and from tial) to reference the wg before the tb. isnt it supposed to see boost and not vacume?

When you are in boost your manifold is also in boost....

right but when your not in boost the manifold is in vacume..

found this on another site...

"The wastegate cares about pressure. You can get a pressure reading from any of the sections you mentioned. If you put the source before the throttle body, the wastegate won't see any vacuum, if you put it after the throttle body, it will see vacuum. Having sit in vacuum might put extra "wear" on the mechanism so I would recomment putting the source on the cold pipe, after the intercooler, and before the throttle body.

The tubing/hose run won't be a big deal if it's a little longer since so little air volume exists in that tube. Putting it on the cold side of the intercooler on an end tank is also fine but I'd stick to the intake piping just before the TB"

I understand what youre saying and you can do it before the TB but Ive never heard of anyone having a problem referencing after the TB. I chose after the TB simply because the ports are already there and I dont need to drill and tap my charge pipe and make more potential boost leaks.

If someone could correct me, Ill gladly hook my WG to the PCV port on my TB.

tru....didnt mean to argue. just wanna make sure i do it right. i have a guy welding up my charge pipe now so an extra nipple isnt an issue for me.

now before or after the bov?

XtremeDime Mar 16, 2010 07:27 PM

after, for sure. Just use the EVAP port for that one. The port on the TB that was formerly used for the PCV should work for your WG too.

do you think it matters that that the port for the wg source is only a few inches from the bov?
