Anyone use a Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT with boost?

Tried searching this over and over again. Thinking of getting one of these intakes for my new IROC build. Anyone used these for boost? Are they any good? This is going in a 87 camaro with a forged 365 76mm turbo and a 598 598 236/232 115 cam. Thanks.

I'm using one on my El Camino, but it's not running yet. Hopefully by the end of summer I'll get it running.

5.3L with a Precision GT42/76 Pro mod series.

Looking forward to seeing responses to this as well.

I figured it wouldnt be many since it wont fit into anything a LS motor comes in standard except maybe a truck

stevieturbo 03-25-2010 04:41 PM

I'd say it would work very well. Eventually I'm going to get one.....just have other bills to pay at the minute.

98Z28CobraKiller 03-25-2010 06:44 PM

If it would fit under the hood of an fbody, I would have one.

stevieturbo 03-25-2010 06:50 PM

Im sure it would fit my car no probs. Being 5000 miles away just adds to the costs. Plus the exchange rate with the dollar is shite for us now

I think so just couldnt find his thread. Also wanted to know what kind of power he was making with it. Just thought the intake would be nice for the "different" look.

stevieturbo 03-25-2010 07:54 PM

he made decent power...but then it'd make decent power with any intake.

its before and after testing we need !

Problem is, that wont find out how good it is. Regardless, it will make power.

What we need to know is if its better or worse than the others available.

I'm pretty sure that it has been tested back to back against the LS6 and the FAST90. If memory serves correctly, it beat the LS6 right of the box and it beat the FAST up top and only gave up a few horses down low. I have tested some of the carb intakes and they are all weeker than the FAST below 6200 RPM. This thing appears to have the high end of a carb intake and the low end similar to a FAST. Then there is all the material that you can hog out of there and because it's cast, it wont flex or break like a composite. Like I said before, you can't lose if it fits. Specially on an FI application.

Wow thanks. Guess I'll be switching to one of these soon!!!

I am putting one on my truck within a month. Here is the link of the manifold and fuel system. I've heard good things so far but like you said not many people have done it yet.

One thing to remember with this intake if you're using the Eddy rails as well, is that you're limited to the types of injectors it will take. You can't use the fat style injectors that most Low-z come in. I've been wanting to find something over 100lb/hr but the high-z skinny siemens versions are expensive.

stevieturbo 03-26-2010 03:33 PM

There are up to 2000cc injectors available in high impedance, thin style.

http://www.injectordynamics.com/

Regardless of price, it'll still be cheaper than ancient low-z injectors+driver box. Much less hassle too.

ALthough the 1000cc would be more commonly used and better suited for most builds.

http://www.t1raceparts.com/en/produc...-injector.html

Circa $115 each.

That FIC sponsor place will likely sell them too.

Forcfed93 03-26-2010 04:05 PM

Wow! Nice injectors! However, considering the fact that I'm going to be running the new Holley HP EFI system that is capable of running either high or low impedence the cost of a driver doesn't concern me. I about choked when you said that a set of 8 will cost $920!!

I could pick up a set of used 120lb or 160lb for $300 pretty easily, but alas, they will not fit in this rail.

stevieturbo 03-26-2010 06:01 PM

You think $920 for one of the most important aspects of an efi engine is expensive ??

Wow.

That intake is great looking!
