IROC Boost

I figured I wiould FINALLY post my Re-Build on LS1tech. First i want to say thank you to a good portion of the guys on the FI side of the house and the SEARCH function as it has helped a ton along the way. My car started as a LS1 swapped 87 IROC with a STS kit built by Bruce of Hawks thirdgen. I have owned the car since 2006 and have changed alot but got tired of blown off couplers, holes being rubbinin them, scraping ever were. So it was time for some thing new. So here is what i got so far followed by my build which started about 4 months ago.

LQ4 Block
JE Boost Pistons
Eagle H Beam Rods
LS6 Intake with ported TB
Speed Inc fuel rails
T56 with PRO 5.0 shifter
Currently single Walbro 255 (have new duals to go in)
60lb Injectors
317 heads with dual valve springs
Custom Turbo cam
CTSV R Lifters
LS2 Timing Chain
LS6 Oil Pump
76MM Master Power Turbo.
Tubular Turbo headers
3.5" Downpipe
No clue about exhaust yet
Coilovers

I had just put on the car before I tore it apart: Tubular Adj Control arms, Spohn Sway Bars, Spohn wonder bar, Spohn Adj torqu arm, Driveshaft safety loop, KYB adj shock. Car has Eiback springs but will have Coil overs on it this week.

Thanks. People laugh at the fact that I'd rather drive my turdgen in the heat with no A/C then my Benz, Lexus, or G6 GTP. This car way my daily for over a year and I miss driving it even when the heat is over a 100. The turbo is a MP76 I forgot what hotside. Eventually I'll switch to a turbonetics but i got other stuff to upgrade this winter when my wallet isnt so light like the 10 bolt I'm still sporting.

Nice swap! I need to do that to my 3rd gen.....haha

MUSTANGBRKR02 06-26-2010 01:40 PM

Looks great! I don't know what to do next. Either a third gen or fox swap.

I still have powr steering and electric windows (that are slow as hell). Not sure yet on the filter i have a couple old K&Ns laying around I'm going to test fit. Cleaning up some stuff today will take some pics.

Got the driver side header in. Took some massageing with a hammer to the very rear primary which will probably have to be redone when the new steering shaft gets here as i think i'll have to "dimple" it way to much for it to be safe. But we will see. Welding the crossover tonight hopefully and maybe if all goes well will be able to fire this off. Still need help with the god damn braided fuel lines. i can't get them to not splay.

Electrical tape and a angle grinder with cut off wheel. It really shouldnt be kicking my ass.

MUSTANGBRKR02 06-29-2010 04:51 PM

Use a hacksaw to cut it. Air tools usually fray the line and make it hard to get the fitting on (as you have found out).

The GN is LS powered, T56, turbo also. I'll also be destroying him with my IROC. LOL. Its my best friends car.

Plus: Fuel lines are in!

Minus: The oil return bung sits in the middle of k member the 90 degree elbow -10 AN fitting cant clear cause the k member sweeps up to much. Ugh how the fuck am i going to clear this... i guess its dremel time with a grindind wheel.

Plus: Flaming River Steering shaft is in and looks super mega awesome.

Minus: Driver side header is prob going to get mor bashed in and more than likely back runner will have to be rewelded in some sorta fashion so it doesnt come out as much.

Minus Minus: Any LS guys know if there is a way to move the power steering bracket (or an aftermarket one) i need it moved towards the center of the motor maybe an inch. More would be awesome but an inch would prob give me enough room an eliviate some of my other problems.

Damn this car to hell.....

Thanks

grifter757 07-08-2010 09:15 PM

This car i swear is going to kill me. LOL. Here some updated pics. Still have to figure this damn oil return bung thats in the middle of my K member. Got to finish my crossover pipe but that will come after I get this PS pulley off which is being a pain. Oh the joys of performance.

Call josh over at kentucky turbo. He has some of the shearer p/s brackets, but not sure if they are going to accomplish what you need.
