Default To blow or not to blow, that is the question....

I was hanging out with the guys at East Coast Supercharging last night for a bit and I was talking with Chris about a Procharger for my minor bolt-on '00 SS. Chris prefers a H/C setup, but Mark loves the supercharger. I have always wanted a supercharger and am very turned on by what I was told as far as that SOTP feel, but for $6500.00 installed I don't know if I can swing that. Chris said that with 6 lbs of boost I would be running around 480 RWHP and with H/C I would have around 430 RWHP. I like those numbers. Now my question is.... What are the pros and cons of going the blown route versus going the N/A route?

Keep in mind, I may be doing the occasional track event, but mostly a daily street driven car that doesn't visit the strip often.

I just recieved my procharger yesterday...I went through the same decisions and decided a blower would be the best way...I always loved the feel of a blower and thought for a street car which would race a little this would be the best way...I'm installing the procharger with a friend...Its winter here so it will be a month or two before i will be able to drive it....

Well comparing the two setups you mentioned, the blower setup would pass emissions testing a lot better because to get 430 rwhp from a heads and cam setup up would have to use a pretty stout cam.

The blower setup would also have more "area under the curve" and produce the power at a lower rpm.

An advantage of the heads and cam setup is less plumbing under the hood and a little lower cost to build it.

One thing you could do is get blower friendly heads and cam for now and then add the blower later when you have the money. That's what I'm doing.

Blower is way more fun to drive, but can also be way more probematic.
