Some don't use a BOV???? I completely know the function and supposed reason to run one but, some of you guys don't. What is your reasoning behind it? I already have one for a turbo set up, so that's not an issue. |
The only real reason not to use one is being cheap. Even on a automatic. |
Some people don't run any and others ran more than one to help control pressure as much as possible |
I run one, and its clear as day that i should have one. Every time i let out of the trottle, Woosh, And when it wasnt working properly, all i could hear was chatter from compressor surge. and everything ive learned tell me that compressor surge is bad. BUT- if im not mistaken, the GN didnt come with one from GM |
Okay, it's going on the set up. Paid the guy $50.00 for a Tial 50mm. Might as well use it, huh? Still curious on the damage factor for not running one. |
stock gns do not have one. mine is at 20 psi and i don't use one. but on my lq4 t76 regal i will be. if you got a tial for 50 bucks by all means weld the flange on. |
It's not about the money, just what one prefers. Take a close look at Wolfe's car....never has had one. |

You dont have to run one but it will damage the turbo. Some larger turbos have anit surge housings that allow the air coming back into the housing to bypass the blades. But if you do not have this style housing your putting a lot of strain on the bearings and fins of the turbo. If its just a weekend warrior its not as important but if you drive the car a decent amount just spend the 100-200 bucks on a good BOV. |
They're cheap. Use one. |
