Default F8l GTO's RX7 LS1 Turbo build-Pics and video

When it breaks, make it faster!

Basic info on the car:

1988 GXL originally maroon with blueish interior. Now Scion Metallic black with factory interior.

2002 LS1 block out of a Camaro SS, Forged Diamond pistons, Callies K1 steel rods, ARP rod bolts, head studs and main bolts, 317 cast heads (polished by me), 224/224 598/605 114lsa cam, Comp hardened pushrods and double valve springs, 60lb injectors and Walboro 255.

Custom front mounted single MPt-70 (Master Power), Tial 50mm WG, DSM 1g BOV, front mounted intercooler. Will be set at 13-14psi to achieve 600whp goal.

RaceTrans Built TH350 with full manual valve body.

TII rear end, and TII brakes all the way around.

Centerline forged drag wheels (looking for something different)..... Let me know :bigthumb:

Anyways here are some pics. Enjoy!

Some of a switch panel I made since the sport suspension no longer works/needed. They control the fuel pumps, electric fan, and headlights (for now)

This part is ridiculous.....It looks like this is where the aluminum shavings came from....Its been milled off. That part of the block does not serve a functional purpose...Anyone know why you would grind that down? Its under the valley cover....

Heres a few of the wiring."Mazdamaro" The dude left all of the mazda harness and didnt cut any of the camaro harness :scratchhead:

Most of the mazda harness is tucked by the brake booster
:puke:

I got a little work done on the heads last night. Polished the chambers and worked a little on the intake. The CC's had some pretty rough casting. Only got one head done though.

Cleaned but not polished

Done with one

I did too! I traded my chevelle for this one. Alot of people dont like them. I think its because when you say rx7 everyone thinks "FAST AND FURIOUS" haha.

The FDs are freakin sweet and i would love to have one but the styling on the FC is cool. It was modeled after the Porsche 944 (fun fact). It weighs 2702lbs without me in it

Wow, thats light....befor I converted to V8's, I had a thing for the lazy eye look you could give the FC's, AE86's and cars of the sort.....

but back to your build, I love it, after I'm done with my cat fish, I might have to pick up an 80's import monster, keep up the good work!

That's the only way you'll fit an LS6 valley cover on LS1 blocks with that **** in the way. Seems not all LS1s have it though; my 3rd LS1 block didn't. Sucks about the shavings...

yeah that is strange because i thought the 01-02+ ls blocks did not have that part under the valley cover.
I had to grind mine down to fit the LS6 stuff on my 00' block but making sure to cover everything important was my first step, not letting all that **** get inside the engine. Sorry to see a shitty job was done on that one.

At least it'll be better than when you started. What're you planning for the new turbo size wise?
