Default Land Speed Camaro....Need more power.

Hello Everyone,

My team and I have been campaigning a 98 Camaro in land speed events in Maine and North Carolina..The car has run 201+ in the standing mile with this setup..Here is our setup.

6L iron block
Stock crank
Diamond pistons 8.4cr
Compstar H/I beam rods
stock 6L heads
Patriot Gold springs
LS6 Cam
LS6 intake
80lb injectors

Ebay A2W intercooler
Bullseye S480 1.32 w/ race cover

Jericho 4 speed
9" rear with 2.5 gears

We made 750rwhp/torque on a Mustang Dyno at 14lbs(couldn't get the boost higher due to a bad WG and BOV)...a bit less than we hoped for....

Now to the point....We recently spun some bearings and are tearing down the motor with the intention of a few improvements....We would like 1000-1100Rwhp or more....

We always run 111 octane and this is a race only vehicle....how can we get to our goal cheaply?

LSA heads???? L92 heads???
Already planning on a HUGE cam.....Ideas?
Intake.....Victor Jr intake???

Keep in mind we need to spin this motor to at least 7000...preferably 7500....for mph reasons..

Thanks for any and all help.

Spend the money on good heads with a nice thick deck. You don't want to be dealing with head gasket issues and you will be with how long you have it to the wood at these events. It's not worth skimping out on cheap parts for this style racing.

Put a bigger turbo on. A 101mm or 106mm fits the bill nicely for mile events and you won't have to lean on it very hard to make the power you want.

Start playing with Aero work as well. You can pick up some speed with a little ingenuity and a small investment.

i'd go with the GMPP DR heads and a single plane intake with a 4150tb

Trickflow 235's work nice and have a thicker deck and for 7500rpm a single plane and elbow would be help. Also a 88 or 91mm would make 1000-1100 wheel.

I say keep it simple, we have made over 900whp with that turbo before. Over 825 with a ls6 cam and the 74mm version and a not so efficient drive-train.

An intake will not do you any good either, a nice set of cylinder heads like these guys stated with a thick deck is a great idea though.

That turbo can and will make the power. I do think that you would gain by using a victor or super victor intake paired with a good set of heads but only because of the type of racing. The carb intake will move your powerband up to peak closer to 7K RPM. I would not be shy on the cam with that turbo either. The thick deck heads are a must because you will need 22+ psi more than likely.
