Default Whats your thoughts on useing stock short block

My car has about 115k on her. I want to start getting her ready for a Pro charger set up. I was originally was planing to do H/C. So I have most of parts on hand to freshen up the top end. I was planing on have it done by next spring. But I also have an Extra block I could use to build a motor on the side.

Would I be better off to just build up a motor Vs. using stock Short block? Whats your Opinion?

What Tests should I look into doing to get a better look at my Short blocks health?

My goals are 500hp or Mid 11's, Would a Stock short block support this goal?
Also maintain Vary Street-able, Cars not my DD but In summer months I driver her most of the time.

I agree, put good rods and pistons in there and you'll be ready to go. Bob
