My version of ChevyChad's mod
 

Well, I've been looking for pullies that match up to Chad's specs and havent had much luck. I wanted a 2.5" pulley, but didn't want to spring for the Procharger pulley. I just did some random searches and a few came up that looked familiar. I still had a pile of DSM parts in the garage, so I went down and dug through them and found a timing belt idler. It's 2.5" diameter, 32mm wide, and has a 10mm bolt hole. It mounts flat against the j bracket with no need for spacers as the back of the bearing spaces it away. The thickness of the bearing center will have to be taken off of the stand off, but that's a whole hell of a lot easier than machining it down. I used the K080415 belt, but it is too long. I'm going to go with the next size down to see if that'll work. The only thing I'm the least bit concerned over is the distance it's spaced away from the j bracket. You'll see in the pics it puts it about 1/8" or so off center of the belt. I dont know if that'll affect anything. The back of the bearing could always be ground down to center it I guess. The pulley is off of a 90-92, 2.0 Eclipse/Talon/Laser. I dont know if the 7 bolt motors had the same pulley. I used an old threaded hex stand off I had to mock it up. I'll have the Procharger one cut down on a lathe to make it purdy. So, on to the pics....

I guess I'm just not seeing it, but what supports the pulley?

It's bolted through the j bracket.

Ok, so the next size down Gates belt is too short. My only hope is to get a Goodyear Gatorback belt that nobody seems to carry.

Damn, I though this thread got deleted. Gatorback 4080407 belt fits this setup. I still may redo the pulley so it sits perfect on the belt, but it seems to be working fine for now.

good find...now get urself a spring loaded tensioner and ull be stylin....!!!

That small black standoff was just for mock up. I have the normal stand off in there now. I'm still getting some slip though, not sure if it's the residue from the other belts that have bitten the dust making it slip. It has a lot of belt wrap on the blower, but cant get more than 13-15 pounds on the 3.4 pulley. :bang:
