Ok fair bit done today. Put heat shields on my aps exhaust manifolds. They now have 2000 degree ceramic coating on them but figured still use the heat shields. have to find some steel wire ties not sure where to get them in my city. I also ceramic coated the turbo exhaust housings.

Also I didn't know you can't run ls7 lifters and ls2 trays with my 6 bolt optioned erl so ordered in some lunati link bar lifters. think number wsa 72437?

Got the heads on ,arp head studs and felpro gaskets.
Got in rockers ,yella terra 1.7 and pushrods and got preload set. Around .50 to .60.
But the 1.7 are very close to the heads for clearance so if keep then likely would want to clearance the heads or rockers. So might go to my 1.8 again as they had more clearance.Would be taking lift up to .590 or so but have 8019 springs good for .650 so should be ok there. But now have to swap out to the 1.8 if do that.

Anyone else have tight clearance with 1.7 yella terra on afr 225s? Did you do any clearances.

Got valley cover on . Was going to bolt on intake but its got oil in it. We changed out pcv setup with breather and blocked off valve cover but maybe oil got in there prior to that or maybe it was from the aps turbos not sure. So clean that out first. Not going to likely be working on engine again now till monday.

Ok talked to Tony at AFR and the 1.7 should be fine with around 20 thousand clearance think mechanic said. But now found out that have the weaker 8017 springs on my afr 225s. Must have been older stock or something. So thats not great ,ordered 8019 off Tony. Figure want more headroom. cam is like 560 lift with the 1.7 but still want the better springs on there.
So build is delayed now since have to take heads back off to do the springs and shims.

And to make things more slow ripped gasket between shells on my fast 90 when taking it apart. It had fair bit of oil in there wanted to clean it all out and taking shells apart seemed best way. So now have to order some new gaskets for the fast intake as well. So forget the car being runnable by next week sometimes. Now have to leave on holidays next sunday till July 2 or so. So can't see the car running before mid july now. Sucks but can't do much about it. Things never go as smoothly as planned.

Everything looking good, it really sucks when the little things hold you back. You will be happy you did this right though. Just silicone your fast all back together, it won't leak and it will hold up to boost much better. The Fast 78 and 90's had problems with internal leakage between runners which caused some problems.

Yeah just silicone the intake. That stock gasket is junk.

Not much for updates. Waiting on 8019 afr springs to arrive and still think want to use fast inner gasket but with bit of rtv on it maybe not use only rtv on there with no gasket that might be really hard to take apart if need to later??

Leaving for two week vacation on saturday or sunday so nothing much going to get done while gone. Buddy can maybe get the springs and heads back on the car while I am gone if show up in next couple days. We are going to take the heads off again easiest way to do the spring swap since also be changing out shims to get recommended spring height.

Mid July is the new target to have this up and running. Should be doable but guess see how it goes.

If you like boost leaks go ahead and use the stock gasket. If it needs to come back apart and is being sticky, a heat gun would help.

Back from holidays so should be working on the 99TT shortly. Got some parts that was waiting for sitting here now. Really busy with some other things though ,selling house, moving plus 1000 miles away also so extremely busy around here next few months. but should be worth it in the end.

Ok back to working on the 99TT again! Got 8019 springs from afr had 8017 springs and wanted bit more spring even though only running ls9 cam still under boost more spring is good!
So got them in and got engine pretty much together now so just hanging the new lg turbos. For you guys that went to LG on drivers side using same holes as aps turbos for water fittings but on passenger side aps thing used bottom holes and lg has those holes plugged with push in plugs. So can we /should we take out those plugs and use the lower holes for water fittings again or does it make any difference clearance can be tight on stuff in these TAs so want to make sure no problem if use other hole.

Should have some more pics to share soon and would think engine should be in the car within week and running within two weeks. So hoping things go well. This is likely my last car that will be modded to this level . From now on its mostly going to be near stock vehicles in my future.
But a stock z06 or stock viper is still not that boring! LOL Then again that edelbrock supercharger would look really nice under z06 hood! I am one sick puppy aren't I guys!

More work on the 99TT. Tapped out the ls3 block for knock sensors to put them in better location. Using 99 knock sensors. Wanted them in cool place since harnesses are close turbo turbos. Now they are near compressor and did get my exhaust manifolds and exhaust housings ceramic coated so should be ok. Reused the aps heat shields though too.

We are pretty much ready to hang the turbos on the engine, put in some new tr8ix plugs not sure where to gap them plan on running either 7.5 to 20psi or possibly 10psi to 20psi.
Figure sticking with the 7.5 base springs might help hook things and going to be using boost by gear most of the time.
It was pretty nuts with my 3.54 at 7.5 psi on my 408 so of course going to be more nuts on my 427 at 7.5psi even . But have some 10psi springs as well so will have to decide soon. Easier to put in springs now rather than messing later drivers side is not bad but passenger is bit tricky although changed things a bit so can remove gate even with the 4l80 and not have to take off downpipe.

Not sure if my mechanic will be working on the car more today or not. Next up will be putting on new flexplate and bolting the 4l80 back on then putting engine on kmember and
of course soon after that it should be back in the car. Think going to be working thru the weekend but not 100% sure on that yet either. But at least am working on the car again.Been sitting way too long. Sure missing my boost.
Na is fun but boost is more fun.

Should be taking some pics today to show the progress that engine looks super nice with the new turbos hanging on there. Almost feel like just putting it in my living room on display under glass !

Here is engine ready to put flexplate on and put tranny on,then put that onto kmember then back into car. Getting closer to hearing some boost noises again!

Nice work. looks like lots of quality stuff. Do you mind me asking what kind of exhaust manifolds are those, or where they come from?

They are aps manifolds ceramic coated with 2000 degree think it was titanium coating. Also coated the exhaust houses as well.

Looking good, man. Did you go with the largest 82mm Exducer wheels?

I am patient waiting to get mine tuned after the turbo upgrade. I am running the 60mm inducer/82mm exducer billet compressor wheels on my little 347

I am not sure which wheels. Just got the 70lb min setup. I am pretty confident the setup will be insane as was very happy with the standard aps turbos on my built 408. Even at 7.5psi with the 3.54 gears and yank stall in the 4l80 and stuff it was just nuts and my car is mostly street/show car not drag race track car. I mostly went to the LG for reliability reasons over the standard aps turbos. Went up to ERL engine since my 408 died and well just like the sound of "427" LOL . As you can see from my sig and my 08 Z06. Only thing better than big cube is big cube and FI!

Working on car today should get fair bit done. Still trying to decide if want to go to 10psi base springs or leave the 7.5 base springs in there.
Have set of each. Am going to be ramping the boost by gear so maybe 7.5 is best as long as can get enough boost when want to dial it up. I run eboost2 controller.
