Has anyone actually run a comp turbo on an lsx?

Curious too about your exhaust

I know on my GTS with the full 3" exhaust and two mufflers in series it plateaus around 12psi

But when I open my cutout which is directly off the turbo the change is crazy, it picks up a butload of power and I can bring it up to 14psi very easy still gaining a bunch with each #
3.5" out of the fender if you are asking me.

The exhaust is 3.5in downpipe that transitions to 3inch. Open cutout.

I'm sure with a new brand of turbo your build will be awsome.

What seems to be the problem? We're trying to discuss what the issue is with this car and you're acting like somehow you got your feelings hurt.

The mustang has 40 less CI. What is the backpressure? What is your backpressure?

You can speculate all day or collect data and interpret it. Guess which one is more effective.

Comp said they would take the turbo back and put an 88mm turbine wheel in at no extra charge. So it would be 88mm turbine,80mm billet compressor wheel. They claim it will all fit in this compact frame. I guess now that I can check back pressure it can put it on and go for a quick highway run and see before the dyno.

They guarantee 1:1 ratio with this turbo combo.

Good for you, I would give it a try what do you have to loose unless you are on a time schedule. I called to see if the turbo i bought was actually theirs and they seemed really nice.

beautie, please dont turn my thread into one of those threads. I really just want my car to run well. I really appreciate the videos but right now I need concrete info like my car on the dyno. Im going to try the new turbo because it won't cost me much to bolt it in and check back pressure now that speed in drilled and taped a bung to do so.

If it does 11lbs on a 11lbs spring close to 1:1 back pressure back to speed inc it will go. If not in returning and getting another turbi from either speed or another reputable sponsor.

Can you post some pictures of your setup? What manifolds are you running, how well does your merge flow, what size cross over piping?

Holy **** someone has pms..

No one was taking a shot at anyone, it was just a discussion

Anyway very cool they are going to upgrade you, I didn't think they could get the 88 in the small frame

That is going to be a cool combo, keep us informed how that works!

Its primarily a kytp c6/truck manifold kit that originally came with a tc78. Kit worked great,i just put this turbo on it and made a bigger dp for it.

I wonder if there is something wrong inside this particular turbo? not the specs just something mechanically not right. 45 to 11psi is allot even if the turbine wheel is not the greatest.

Good point, either way im going to get a whole new turbo with the larger wheel. What worries me is that this is a totally custom turbo now that I don't think they have ever tried to so. A 88mm turbine in such a small frame that is.

Did you run this combination with a TC78? I can't even imagine how much back pressure you would see with the F1 68mm turbine wheel. Not trying to hijack the thread but this is why you see so many different combinations on the borg warner turbo's. Guys running 80 &82mm compressor wheels with 83,87,92,97 turbine wheels.

I'm happy to hear your getting a handle on it.

Yes I ran the exact turbo kit with the tc78. It was on a 347 with the same heads and intake and with a 3inch dp.

It ran great with that setup,675whp 705ftlbs at 15psi.

Not going to lie I have no clue how the back pressure wasn't as high as it is now using a way bigger turbine wheel and ar housing.

Unless the extra 22 cubes really made that big of a differance. Could it be that that tiny 68 f1 turbine is that much better than comps 79mm turbine??

Comp explained that the billet compressor wheel is flowing way to much air for the cast turbine to keep up with. They actually said switching to a cast wheel would fix the problem because it wouldnt flow as much and the turbine could keep up there fore lowering back pressure.

I don't really agree with that route of correcting the issue. I told them if im going through the trouble of swapping turbos and wasting money on the dyno I needed alot bigger turbine and to keep the billet comp wheel.

I really hope that extra 9mm on the turbine does the trick.

Quick Reply: Has anyone actually run a comp turbo on an lsx?
