Default 76mm turbo 5.3 3rd gen TA WOT runs @ 5 psi

Hey guys...just started street tuning with my tuner and we got it running pretty good for the time being. Running 5 psi currently but engine will be around 12-14 psi when all said and done. Thing feel like a monster already at just 5 psi though! Can't wait to start driving it and see what it's got.

Those of you who don't know, it's a 5.3 with 317 heads, ls6 cam and valvesprings, ls6 intake, and custom fabbed turbo kit with 76mm BB turbo.

Turbonetics T76 ball bearing. .96 A/R hotside and .68 F1 turbine wheel. Can't wait to up the boost! This turbo was meant for much more than 5 PSI.

It's a blast man! You won't regret going this route in yours. After the 4 years of painfully building my car, those WOT runs made it all worth it.

Sick! Good to see it finally running. I've been following your other threads.

You planning on changing your valve springs for high boost?

Thanks man! As far as the valve springs, it's got LS6 springs in it. A lot of guys seem to have luck even with higher boost with the LS6 springs. I guess once I get it on the dyno, we'll see what they can take. Not too big of a deal if I do have to change them out though. Might see what it makes on 10 PSI and if I still don't hit my goal, I'll up it more. Only looking for 550-575 RWHP, so if it makes it on lower boost, I'll keep it there.

Rear gears are 3.55's. I've been taking it to 6K RPM. Tune still needs a bit of work but for the most part, the AFR's are pretty much spot on up to redline under WOT. Part throttle is def a bit choppy at certain RPM's but the car has big 80 lbs injectors which may be contributing to the problem. Pretty sure I fucked up the tranny in that vid too. If you listen after the 2nd rip, theres a horrendous whining noise after I lift...and that was in nuetral lol. And on that 2nd rip, I start in 2nd gear since I couldn't get the tranny into 1st leaving the stop sign. Guess I got ripped yet again on our wonderful classifieds here on tech!

Very nice car, I have a cheap turbo, but other that that we have almost the same setup. What head gaskets did you use?

Thanks man! And so far for the 2 times I've driven it, it was a blast. It's not 100% done yet, but should be in about another month or so. Then I plan on driving the heck out of it!

It's a great setup and they put down respectable numbers most of the time. As far as head gaskets, I went with stock GM MLS gaskets.

I hope your not putting two 76mm turbos on a 5.3!

Haha, mine doesn't hit full spool till around 3500 RPM or so. Can't even imagine how long two would take!

Damn, that engines gonna be a MONSTER! LOL, easy 1000 HP if set up right I would think.

As far as the gopro, it was mounted on the windshield. And I do have fenders now...my sig pic is old, haha. I've upgraded to having fenders now but still no front bumper or hood. Paint isn't cheap!

No clue on back spacing...they are for a 4th gen F body though. Wheels are Ruff Racing 278 series, which I think have been discontinued. 18x8.5 front, 18x9.5 rear. Tires are nitto 555's in 245/40 front and 285/35 rear
