Hey Dee.... How is your project going man?

Killer...I think you'll love the comp unit. I actually have another one of their turbos on my sr20det powered 240 that's held up great. I am really enjoying the oil less unit on the Trans Am though! As deeloc mentioned my TA made nearly 800 at the rear wheels with a cam only 5.3... I'm adding methanol and removing some restrictions (muffler) on the hot side piping in the next week or so and see if I can get 850hp at the wheels out of my setup. I think the unit has it in it just based off what Rob Raymers vette has done (unleashed performance c5 vette).

Good luck with it man...I'm sure you'll be happy when you get it.

I got it last night, and its already mocked up in the engine bay. I think it will bolt right up with NO changes. Ill have it fully installed this weekend, and hopefully Dyno'd next week!

Im excited to get a real comparison of spool and HP!

What's up Billy?! My project at the moment is at a stand still...lol! Had my daughter visiting me for about a month and a half...spent ALOT of money entertaining her so the project will have to wait until i can save up a little more coin. Shouldn't be long before i start messing around with it again though.

And nemess, yes I can get dyno overlays from the previous turbo. It will be on the same exact dyno, with very similar weather, so it should be pretty accurate

The new turbo I'm going with was built by reed at work turbo and should let me make 1200 to the flywheel. The hardest part about a turbo is picking the right turbine and housing. The compressor side it all ready maped out. How often do you hear about people talking about what turbine wheels flow. It took me weeks of searchine to find turbine flow data and it was all found on different fourms.
You should of known better than to put a 87mm T4 on a 365 c.i. motor at the boost levels you were running. 20+psi right?

Way to small of a hot side.

I don't know why people miss the mark so much on these turbo's on LS cars and under turbine them!

Turbo looks nice. You do realize that you are comparing apples to oranges with a $1300 turbo to a $3000 turbo. One is an entry level turbo and the other is a top of the line unit. Regardless looks good.

well yeah of course. The point is to find out what kind of difference really exists between a low budget and high budget turbo. Especially with everyone saying that the ebay turbos are just fine, and no point in buying an expensive turbo. This will also help show the guys with GT91's what they can do to get more power without getting a bigger unit.

I expect the "smaller" 88 will at least be on par or better than the 91, but spool much better

I definately like that comp turbo. Its a nice piece and I am curious as to how different the curve and if the boost will come in earlier. If I had the money I would go that route. I hope the results meet your expectations and it's worth it.

***UPDATE*** I got the turbo all installed yesterday, and did a quick dive around the neighborhood. Everything pretty much felt the same, but its really hard to tell because I cant really get on it for more than a couple seconds at a time.

Ill get some pics uploaded of it later today!

Yep same here!

Precision basically said that GT88 is garbage! Said it appeared it wasn't torqued properly

I'm surprised you can even get into it for that long on the street!

Anyway, can't wait to see the new numbers!

Lookin foward for results...spool should be similar (being comp has a bigger but better turbine) i think power will be up for the comp at same boost levels and should come on hard.
