Default Artic White 67 Camaro Forged Ls1 Iron Block (Update 6/18/12: 2000 Trans am Dash Swap)

Little History About It First...

Well ive Had this car for about two yrs now it started out as a roller car in primer. ive done everything myself so far from the swap to motor mount fab to paint and body......

Last Winter I bought a 5.3 and t56 and spent about 6 months Doing the swap, its not to hard but the little things ended up costing more than everything. however it took about 6 months and its pretty much been unchanged since then but every since i sold my black camaro i been itching to go faster.

well over the summer i began collecting several parts including a brand new never used 5.3 block, Pistons, heads and some other odds n ends

Early Summer i decided i wanted to take the car to the ls-fest seeing that it was only about 15 min from where i live so i decided to paint the car myself (first paintjob ive ever done) and i still havent buffed or wet sanded kinda scared to.

well anyway back to somewhat present. i now have the shortblock put together with..
- Stock Crank
- 5.3 iron block bored to 3.905
- Diamond 11500 Pistons (not the best for boost but i gotta deal on em)
- Callies Compstar Rods
- 317 heads
- **** GONNA TRY OUT THE EBAY HEAD STUDS THAT SAY 190000 PSI LIKE ARP IF ANYONE HAS TRIED THEM LEMME KNOW WHAT U THINK I JUST GOT MINE IN****
- Ls-9 Camshaft
- H3 Alpha Oil Pan
- Ls3 Spring Loaded Timing Chain Tensioner
- Ls2 Timing Chain
- 2004 Gto Front Timing Cover With Sensor In cover ( needed for ls-9 cam )
- Traded my Nitrous stuff for a nice 78mm sheet metal intake and fuel rails

And Still Have to buy........
- TURBO ( Need Help Selecting btw im goin with budget all the way im thinkin a mp76
-hotside, coldside and bov wastegate etc....
- injectors, another walbro and bigger feed line.
- accessories and brackets for fbody.
- and who knows what other odds and ends

And when This 5.3 Gets Pulled out of the camaro its goin in this car cause i sold the 468 to build this one...

I want to make about 600 to 650 to the wheels and this is a heavily driven street car so i need help with selecting a turbo if anyone can help me out its gonna be a truck manifold front mount.

Ill Be Updating as I go Along i plan on ordering some Valvesprings today so when they come in ill be putting the top end together.

Nice project

two things I see, H3 pan hangs too low in a first gen Camaro (Fbody pan fits better) and truck mani's wont fit unless they are flipped upside down and then the pipes are close to the hood and look funky.

I would go with a Turbonetics T76. Just a few hundred more than the MP and a better unit overall.

well with the 5.3 i have in it now the pan hangs really low and the h3 pan is the same but much shallower. and from everything ive heard to use a fbody pan u have to cut it and weld in a angle aluminum piece to clear the kmember so its much easier to buy a h3 pan and call it done, my suspension is twice as low anyway and i havent bottomed out the 5.3 pan yet. and right now i have hooker super comps on it but when my new engine is finished i will either use the truck manifolds flipped or i also have a set of mac midlengths that i will chop weld and flip and use.

idk tho turbonetics are like 1000 to 1200, i can get a mp for like 600. if ima pay that much id be better to spend 1800 and get a ball bearing style.

Awesome build! 67 is by far my favorite first gen. Some Fikse Profil 5S' on that car would be wicked.

T76's are about 750 from MP and a TC 76 or 78 is 1000

Default Update 11/24/10

well i havent did alot today but i did manage to get my front cover, oil pan, balancer, head studs and lifters in. my lifter trays i bought will not fit and im wondering if theres more than one style of tray.

Im also trying out the ebay 75 dollar head studs, they look pretty tough but then again ive never spent the 3xx dollars to try arp so they may be tougher who knows. ill prolly set my heads and intake on in a bit just to test fit and see how it looks and ill get back with some pics.

Awesome looking build, I'd recommend the S472 or S475 with 1.1 A/R and the 83mm turbine from forcedinductions.com $800 in T4 flange. Great budget turbo with a lot of potential.

Default Oil pan

Is the oil pan you chose the "muscle car oil pan" kit from GMPP? Let me know how it works out with the rear steer as I am getting ready to set my 6.0 in my 69. I have a few more things to buy before that happens including an oil pan. What adapters are you using for mounts? I am using the ones Nooks and Tranny sell on Ebay. They fit great and have three different locations to set the engine. I have them set at the standard location for now. Good job on this project!
