Default TC78 + 390ci..........will it make 900 RWHP....?

Through a 4L80E?
Rest of the car is in the sig......

390ci..LSA heads, LS9 gaskets and head studs....10.2:1 compression and E85 with FMIC. No meth.

I want the smallest turbo that will reach my goal and one that will spool fast with a 390ci. NOT moving the radiator is preferred.......and keeping A/C is a must.

I can put it where the battery is or a front mount...whatever will work.

Or would an 88mm be a better choice....?

Nope, turbine is way too small.

You would be extremly lucky to crack 700 rwhp with a TC78 and 390 cu.
the new 78/75 or a precision 76 will take it further. but i doubt you would crack 900 rwhp.
An 88 would be a better match for your engine capacity, but physical size will be much more of an issue.

I was going to say, based on what I'd read by INTMD8, that TC and your motor dimensions, it sounded like it would get choked off fairly early.
Read this. It greatly conveys what is inadequate about your turbo/motor combination versus your goals.
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...ls-trends.html

Given your goals, is it out of the question to go to smaller twins? There is a lot of benefit all around if you can swing that. Some of which are early realization of boost and response while still having knockout power at the upper RPM arena. Based on that thread, I bought a 76GTS to supplant my current and much loved TC76 I've been running since '08. I haven't had a chance to install the new Turbo yet (darned winter weather and darned lack of garage) but I'm fairly certain after next spring’s swap and racing, I'll go try some small twins. For a budget setup, Jim (INTMD8) said my 355 would do well with twin 6062E's, T3 housings, using a .63 A/R. His price for the pair is/was only $1,200. Your larger motor would no doubt require a step up from the 6062E's but it could be worth your while to consult Jim or good folks like him. I have a lot of PM back and forth with Jim. He spent several days speaking to me before I bought the 76GTS. At the time, I mostly wanted to stay single Turbo but subsequent reading of some of the twins’ guys threads sure has been compelling Best of luck to you!

An s480 would get the job done but they're huge. It's going to take a fairly large (physical size) turbo to make 900 on a 390. A 7675 would get you much closer than a TC but probably won't make 900. You're either going to have to move some stuff around or live with whatever a smaller turbo makes.

A precision 8847 with a T4 .96 turbine has a the same size compressor housing as a PT76 and a little larger turbine side. It would make that power on your 390. I built a kit for a friends 98 (user name Jakson on here) with truck/c6 manifolds, stock radiator placement, and a/c with a 4" downpipe.

I have a PT7675 for sale if you want to go that route.

Definatley dont use a TC unit, turbine side way too small.

91mm T4 I'm sure Flash's WS6 (Mighty Mouse's old car) made over 1100+rwhp in high boost to run mid 8s and 160mph it also spooled very fast on 364ci with 390ci it will be prefect street setup 60-170mph runs

Pt88 is what you need IMO if a S480 can't be shoe horned in there. Pt88 on 370 has a bit laggy but on 390 I bet it would be pretty good and hit goal with a little to spare. Went 145mph in my truck with a 370/pt88, at 900rwhp my truck traps 139.

Will that 91mm T4 fit front mount style? Or where the battery is?
KEEP A/C......

What brand/model number turbo is that?

So a PT88 will make 900 RWHP or more.......?

I suppose it'll fit front mount?

Yea, I would think it'll spool pretty good down low with 10.2:1 cr and 390ci.

Through a 4L80E....nice.

PT88 seems like the best one to try first.....I'm sure I'll hit my goal and it'll spool fast down low.

Like I said, try the 8847. Its very similiar to the PT88 but a little better rotating assembly. Its tight but fits.

Fits how....front mount with standing the radiator up....or leaving the radiator where it is....

Keep A/C?

Do I need a turbo KMember...?

Spooling is not a problem with the correct stall converter. The kit will be custom to fit a big turbo with the correct 4" down pipe to support the power and enough cooling on the radiator to keep ac.

I was spec'd a gt50-88 for my 390 from aes by a sponsor. Should make near 1200-1300 and some serious torque as well. The motor alone will have enough power to make for a good 60 foot with good compression and the right setup, and if boost takes a second to come on, that will probably be best unless your geared specifically for it, and have great track prep, on the street it should just fry the tires in general unless your going 70+mph or more.

Yea or the pt8847 like ls1nova said if you don't mind spending the extra $. Either one should get you to 1000hp give or take a little.
