Default got rid of tall valve covers, Huron speed bracket problem still post #9

i have the huron speed alt relo bracket and went to put the alternator on yesterday and my 2.5" tall valve covers get in the way. But, the "exhaust" cover on the back of the Alt also hits the head. anyone found a way around this? the only way i can think of is to have the valve cover modified and trim the alternator cover. even with the cover off it still hits the valve cover...

yup ran into that same issue with those valve covers, had to remove the back cover and also grind down the valvecover area. all for the valve covers to leak and had issues with the passenger side valve cover hitting my rockers near the gasket groove. i would save yourself a headache and get rid of those covers

I pushed up some on the covers when i installed them and shined a light inside the oil cap hole and watched the rock arms as a friend turned over the engine. I have plenty of clearance after i done this. I also bought a feeler gauge and went around the permiter of the valve cover. My engine is on a stand obviously and at .007" i couldnt hardly get the feeler guage to go under the seal on the covers. i cranked down on them pretty good. Ill give em a shot and see what happens. if the leak, ill go to som $700 billet ones

Thanks for the pic. whered you get that bracket?

I had a buddy come over who is a machinist and owns a CNC machine. He took some measurements and is gonna come with a bracket that mounts the ALT over more to clear the valve cover. Ill show ya what we came up with when its done.

I had those leak out the back when in boost and crankcase pressure was high when I had the procharger on the car. When I went turbo I dumped them for some stock ones powder coated.

well u guys were right, i had those covers slightly milled to make them flat and they seal like ****. im sending them back and using stock covers. anyone have issues with the huron speed alternator relocation bracket? i thought my valve covers were causing the problem but the "exhaust" still doesnt allow it to mount up. i had to hack the **** out of the cover on the back of the alternator to get it to fit... exposing the back of the alternator... i can't catch a break
