Anyone familiar with the Vortech V9 kit please help! Pics Attached.
I bought a used Vortech V9 today, it is 90% complete..only appears to be missing the heat exchanger. It has the T-trim Race M head unit that was recently rebuilt. It has a 2.95 pulley.
It looks like it was modified and I don't know why. The red arrows point to the modification...I'm new to supercharges so I'm lost. The black arrows obviously point to the "normal" bypass valve set-up.
Also, should the Vortech bypass valve be ok for that size pulley and head unit? Do i need to go to a Mondo or Maxflow BV57 ?
My motor is a LQ9 with forged internals, dished pistons, stock stroke, LS3 ported heads, and a 232/234 .595/.576 115 +3 cam.
Will the cam be fine or should I change it? Was originally for my turbo build.
What should I change on the kit? Cog set-up?
My other option is to take my LS2 heads/ intake off the Vette and throw it on the LQ9.... My Vette has a 229/236-112 that would enjoy the ported LS3 heads. Would putting stock LS2 heads (dual springs though) and a LS2 intake make a real power difference on the Vortech?

It looks like they added a second by pass valve. Don't know about the sealed over hole unless it was T-ed in. I would use the Vortech race bypass valve in the original location and seal over the ares used for the second valve. You won't need more than that.

What do you have for a mounting bracket? I have a bunch of Vortech stuff listed in the classifieds if you're interested.

As for power, I'd like a minimum of 700RWHP. I'm going to try and max this kit out while I start collecting turbo parts. When I have everything, I'll take this head unit and put it on my Vette with a A&A kit.

yes you can just run it open the pros re: sounds good and simpler piping the downside is the pressure returning to the sc inlet helps minimize compressor surge by helping equalize the pressure drop when you let off or shift. also it is supposed to help minimize boost loss betwwen shifts.

they may have been using a wastegate on your setup you can control boost like a turbo like that by having it on the charge side of the pipe and bleed of boost when you need to but it creates compressor surge and is hard on the s/c or else that would answer problems for changing pullies for boost you just pulley for max and adjust wastegate. I just read its hard on the blower though.

yea it should its just a matter of making brackets or packaging it properly. You can use really any kind of cooler just as long as it has the larger 1/2 to 5/8 lines through it. You can even double them up for more cooling or put a small fan on it. Some of the cobra stuff will work to if you can make room for it. also the oil coolers off some rx7s are pretty big passages and should work. im going to add a no2 sprayer to cool mine down before runs also
