debating ditching on3 70's on max effort 4.8.. thoughts? The more I think about it, the mire I want to run more efficient turbos, I have a grasp on single turbo stuff, but im a little lost on turbines and AR's on twin applications and especially small cubes. I have a few turbos in mind and all should make 1200whp for future plans which will be a forged 290-347ci. Quick run down 4.8 shortblock from 2010 truck Stock 853's milled .030 (9.5:1?) Kmj studs ARP Rod bolts Holley Hi Ram 218/218 112* Th400 with brake PTC Converter 3200lb race weight And obviously twinn turbos. Currently have a set of On3 70's which have a 65mm turbine amd .68AR The turbos I have in mind Turbonetics Tc66 which have a 68mm turbine and .81AR housing Turbonetics 6665 "Lety" 66mm comoressor, 65mm turbine and .81AR housing Precision 63/68 which can be had in .68 or .81AR Borgwarner s362 with 68mm turbine and .81AR Billet S462 ETR-HO with 68mm turbine and .88AR What do you guys think? I wajt something that will come up quicm which shouldn't be that difficult on a 2 step and brake. |
BW 362FMW ? No matter which unit, the lighter billet wheels dont cost a huge amount more, so would be worth going for. I'm sure Forced Inductions or Work turbochargers, or any similar guys can build you units to any spec you want, with any choice of turbines and housings. Although at least with the Garrett, T'netics, Precision ranges you will have a much wider selection of turbine housings to play with compared to the BW's |

If u already have the on3's try them...don't get me wrong something like bw s362 or 366 may be a better all around quality turbo and you will more than likely make more horsepower per psi but for the price of the on3's and a potential to make 1200 rwhp with a set I would say screw it and use them |
Wicked 69 is having great success with them not sure how much hp though but fast just try them.Im doing on3 70s on a 408 but just hoping for 900 hp plus. |
Almost be cheaper and easer to keep those and ditch the 4.8 for a 6.0. That's going to be hard to get moving with a 3200 converter. |

Instead of changing turbos I'm with stock48. Sell the 4 8 and get a 6.0. I'm running 5.99 @3720lbs so with 3200 u would be flying!!!! |

With the 6.0 would the 70's do 1200 to the wheels? A guy maxed the 76 at 600whp on a 6.0. With the 4.8 I think it would be dooable but I think you'll need 76's for your goal with the 6.0. |
They might but you don't need 1200 RWHP to run low 5's at 3200 lbs. Just depends if you're after RWHP numbers or track numbers I guess. The 4.8 will likely make more pk hp at 30+ psi of boost but avg power under the curve will be way down vs the 6.0 IMO. I think the 4.8 will need to leave around 4800 to 5K rpm and spin 7500 to get it done. A set of billet 62's would work really well on the 4.8 but they are not cheap. Those 70's on a 6.0L with the 218 cam he has would work with that converter, and have power to burn. |

Precision billet 62/62's seem to make good power if you can get a set that will last. I've seen quite a few of them blow up. A good pair of billet 62's prob would make similar power to a billet S480. Jose might be able to do a custom set of billet Tnetics but won't be cheap. I would keep turbine around 62 and a tight Ar. They can build you a converter that will spool the 70's but it's going to be high strung and sloppy driving around. You might light the 62's with a 3600 but It will prob still be soft in the 60' with less than 4500 rpm launch. |
Id go with a 370,tfs 255's, and a bw s475 |
I thought the op was after 1200whp like stated in the original post. Keep the 70's and get a 6.0. Spool will be great |

Although that was against the old 6262 cast wheel unit |
