3000HP LSX or 3000HP HEMI, BBC, 481X?
Things to think about - overall price and parts availability, maintenance, reliability, competitiveness, overall cool factor. Are you going to race 4 times a year, 10 times a year, 50 times a year?
Budget and this topic don't go together. Your either ALL in or not.
I think most hardcore heads up racers look at it from the long haul perspective. Look at where they can race and how often they can race and how competitive they can be. LSX racing is 4 events a year. You can make more power with a bigger, better more sturdy engine paltform to start with without running such 1 off custom parts and have more of shot to be competitive at other heads up events - but obviously not race the LSX stuff. At the LSX stuff, you can stand out more because there just aren't that many competitors. It would be different IMO if there was a FULL field showing up, but to warrant that cost for what it is there is a hard pill to swallow.
You have to look at why someone like Andreas or Major left the LS platform to move on to bigger and better things?
The likes of Kempf, Carlyle, Berry, etc. are in a class where money doesn't come hard (from the looks of it). To say you want to try and do it with less is just not being rational. There is no less - only more. No one is going to care if you saved 20K and run .2 slower.....
3000HP LSX's are cool, but practical......hmmm? Jury is out.
It is only money, just burn it!
FWIW, I just wonder if the Dart billet LSX will change the main design to that of the LS next in the future. Or is the main bulkhead in that block that much beefier than the regular LSX, RHS bottom end design where it is not a problem.

I need a gauge for that

This will probably be laughed at, but why not get really creative and go with 4 76mm turbos? Two per bank. Probably want a smaller AR on the hot side but that is an after thought on something like this. Based on the ls firing order, I would cylinders 1 and 5, 3 and 7, 2 and 4, and 6 and 8.

call me crazy but I love the quad turbo idea
run 4 little ones and packaging could be worked out and they
would spool in a hurry
it would be a fun project and warrant a few bragging rights
while were at it, let's do dual and flex fuel and pump some E85
needs to be done

Seem's silly to spend that much money on something to run a 4 race series that pays hardly anything to win, and maybe race some local stuff..
IMHO I would build a twin turbo 481X or BBC and run REAL Outlaw Drag Radial... Where there is 2-3 races a month for 5k or more, at true radial prepped tracks.. I know our new Outlaw 10.5 car will only race NMCA locally because of payout structure.. 4 days at the track, $2,500 to win..
I would rather drive to Cecil County for a one day $5,000 to win race against some of the best Outlaw 10.5 guys in the country!
Just my thoughts Andy. Steve @ LRE
