How do you like the max jax? I've only got 8' ceiling in my basement but ive been eyeing them pretty hard. For 2200$, seems kinds hard to beat. Nice build by the way. One of my favorite cars of all time.

The lift is just plain badass. I've been using it for a week now and I must say rolling around in a chair to do work is a whole lot better than on your back. Not to mention I've been able to knock a lot more work out much quicker. I've been dealing with a lot of suspension related stuff this week so being able to compress/express the suspension rapidly has been amazing. Thanks for the comment by the way.

How high are your ceilings? Is the lift hard to move around itself? Really so close to pulling the trigger.

I'm a sub contractor for residential housing for a living. I just finished building out house last December. I did everything myself trying to save a few dollars and we did just that. The way the land laid, it worked out perfect with 8' ceilings in basement but now I'm kicking myself for not just bringing the house up 2' more and getting the extra space. It's either use the equity we got in the house and build a 3 car detached garage with huge ceilings for a nice lift or just spend 2k on this.

9.5" ceilings. With an 8ft ceiling you would be close to maxing it out. It really depends on how tall your car is. You definetly should have built the house up a few extra feet! I haven't moved the pillars around but they are not that heavy. Plus they have wheels on them.

Ya, the extra 2k though that it was going to cost to do it sounded bad at the time. A lift was the last thing in my mind. What do you mean by maxing it out?

Take 48" plus the height of your car. If your car was exactly 48" tall than you would be perfect. Any taller and you wouldn't be able to lift the car the full 48"

Not measured it but I would say it's definitely not 48". Thanks for the help

If you ever have it up on the lift and have a tape measure handy, I'd be interested in what the inside tire to tire measurement is. I like the way yours looks in back with the flares and wide tires. I've just got 255's on mine.

Thanks for the compliment. You could replicate this setup to a T for 20 or less

You ever take this to a track or play on an autocross track? I'm looking to sell my v12 BMW 850 and thought an lsx t56 turbo car would be so fun to build for a toy/track car. I've looked at fox's, 260z's, rx7, etc. Curious on your input on this since you do scca with the subi? Thanks

No track time with the car. Nor do I race SCCA. I will tell you though, if it's a race car you are after save yourself some time/money and buy a more modern platform. They are great cars and handle well for their time but to make this a fast track car it needs a lot of work. If your just looking to get out there and have a good time than by all means the Datsun can be competitive but if your looking to finish first regularly I would steer you in another direction. Unless of course you have a large bank roll and plenty of time/patience.

As unoriginal as it is, the C5 is still IMO the best bang for your buck sports car on the market. The amount of engineering you get for 10K is really hard to beat.

That's about the same as mine? I guess those flares must sit out farther than I thought. I've got about 3/4" clearance on the inner wheel well, but no flares so it's tight on the outsides. I think I have a sawzall here somewhere. :-)

The inner wheel measurement will likely be the same on most of them. There is only so much offset available before you hit the strut tubes. I think I have 1/4" or so with this backspacing. The only way you are getting decent sized tires is with a hacksaw

Mine was tubbed a little when they put in the narrowed rear axle, but the coil overs may be in the same location as the struts on a stock rear. I've not seen a stock rear since this abomination represents my total Z experience.
