Ysi

How easily would 800 rwhp be to reach with a YSI without cog drive, using 91 octane? Probably around 17lbs boost

Very, what is your base engine to start with ?

Well, you dont mention what drive you intend using. But 800hp will be no problem to the blower with a suitable belt drive.

Depending on CR with your 383 I'm assuming, you can certainly do it. 8 or 10 rib at a minimum.

kpadlina 01-29-2014 08:08 AM

Cr is 10:1 and the belt I'm running now is 8 rib so I was hoping to stay with that set up.

stevieturbo 01-29-2014 08:45 AM

the more ribs the better, but not all belt drive setups are equal. So make sure it is a damn good setup with a good sprung tensioner.

The Ysi and F Series benefit from a more steep gear ratio allowing larger pullies to be used. I'd love to run an F-1 but I want the helical gear set more.

But yes, more ribs are better for your boosting pleasure.

Are you planning meth? At 10:1 w/ 91 Octane I do not see 800whp or 17psi being possible at all. Maybe 9:1.

stevieturbo 01-29-2014 10:27 AM

YSi and F-series internal gearing are miles apart.

F-Series uses much taller gears and hence larger pulleys. YSi as with most Vortech is down around 3.45

Exidous 01-29-2014 10:59 AM

Huh no kidding. I honestly thought is was up there with the 5.x:1 of the F series. My bad.

kpadlina 01-29-2014 06:42 PM

I'm willing to run meth. I just wanted to stay out of the e85 group cause sometimes it's hard to get and unfortunately the gm computer can only have one tune at a time
