Default Kentucky turbo hotside question, wastegate size

Here's a picture of a similar set up, it has a 40mm JGS waste gate with a GT4788 turbo, do you think it's a large enough waste gate for the location?

I personally don't think it is large enough. IMO it would need at least a 50mm or bigger if using a single wastegate.

If I understand correctly if the waste gate is to small or in a bad location you'll have trouble controlling low boost?

That wont effectively control anything under 20lbs at redline.

I would go larger than that 38mm but also, it looks like you could have a better exit angle. Try to keep your angle < 90 degrees from direction of flow.

Yep - the wastegate will be wide open but you'll still be spooling away

I think what I'm going to do is add another jgs waste gate.
