Are my WG's and BOV the right size? I've got about 80% of my parts together for my build, and I'm starting to second guess the WG and BOV sizes that I have picked out after reading some things on here. I'm planning to push at least 20 PSI, car is being built for the street with weekend trips to the track. Here are the details, please let me know any opinion on it 347 C6 manifolds Twin BW S359 T4 .83 2.25 hot side Tial 38 WG x 2 Ebay 4" core intercooler 3" cold side RPS 50mm BOV LS6 intake/ stock TB 20 PSI |
You shouldn't have any issues! A pair of 38's will be more than sufficient if you need to control the boost lower. Start building and enjoy! |
ok thanks for the help. Something else Ive been thinking about, I planned on having an intercooler with one inlet and 1 outlet, and merge both pipes from the turbos to the intercooler. I have seen people do it with success... is that typically ok to do , or would a dual inlet cooler be a better choice? |

I have seen it done as well before, however I think with your goals in mind you would benefit from a nice vertical flow, 2-in 1-out style cooler as long as you get a nice core and core size! |
Some seem to think that a single 50mm BOV isn't going to be adequate for the car. Ive been told by my tuner that I need two of the RPS 50mm Bovs or a single JGS 60mm. Why isn't a 50mm single BOV good enough? |

Twin 38s should do well for the set up depending how low you want to control. If they are perfectly placed I would say your min boost will be in the 7psi range which you may or may not ever need depends on the goals. As for the bovs if your buying the rps might as well grab two do one before and after the ic. It's never a bad thing to have more mm of air to blow off it can save the turbo life also. |

That's funny. I'm pretty sure 'too small' a gate(s) doesn't let enough excess exhaust pressure flow by... therefore you have a much better chance of that gate stabilizing at a moderate to high boost pressure than a low boost pressure. you guys sell turbo stuff? PS way to sound like a dick for no reason |

Yeah I understand that, Im just trying to save some money. I feel like if Im goinf to spend the money on two RPS I might as well just get one JGS 60mm for the same price and have all the BOV that I need. |
I purchased (2) 38's to control my 66/65's and a single 60MM BOV. I think you could step up the BOV or buy another one. Key to the sucess of those gates is your placement. |
My single 50mm tial is working fine for me, even venting over 20 psi from my s480. I also have twin 38mm gates and they are also doing fine on my set up. I can't imagine that your twins would require more gate than mine provided they are set up properly. |
Cool thanks Sarg, I think the 38's will do just fine too. Its jut the BOV I cant make up my mind on, some say a single 50mm is fine, some say a 60mm is definitely needed, then there are others who say running two 50mm is the best option....wtf. I think Im just going to suck it up, dish out the cash, and get a JGS 60mm although saving $130 and running a single 50mm RPS would be nice. |
As long as your turbo is not making quacking noises like a duck when you shift you are fine, haha. |

Twin Tial 38's here and I'm running as low as 4 psi on a 404 CI LS2 motor. No issues, and I'm running one 50mm Tial BOV. Works well. |
I run twin 44 gates and a single Tial 50mm BOV just before the throttle body after the IC. |
Run what you have. The single 50 is fine. Saving $130 here and there could save you a lot by the end of your build. I'm just getting started and I can already see my $5000 budget isn't going to be enough. Shit adds up fast |
