Default turbo third gen camaro manifolds

Hey I have an 84 z28 with a 408 im goin with a 94mm t6 frame. Im trying to see has anyone used the truck manifolds or any car manifolds for the turbo exhaust without any problems? I do have a tubular k member. For more room. And I do have ac delete panel as well. I just wanna simple bolt on if not I can get some up n forward headers. How hard is it to have v bands welded on to the manifolds? Thanks for any advice

The passenger side will work with a truck manifold/v band welded on. The driver side is all fu**ed up with the damn steering box in the way. Nothing works other than a log or the truck mani flipped up-which looks retarded in my opinion.

Search. Literally thousands use the factory truck and other manifolds...whichever fits them best.

Not on the 3rd gen. I tried 1500 series truck manifolds, TrailBlazer manifolds, F-body manifolds, C5 manifolds, and 5th gen Camaro shorty headers. NOTHING fits the driver side facing forward and down.

OP - I believe a guy here used the truck manifolds pointed down and forward. He had to hack up a Huron turbo kit and install a rack&pinion (an bad choice IMO) to make it work. 88blackiroc I think is the name?

^ Did you find anything that was even close? What did you end up doing? I'm thinking about sticking one in the stock location and run the pipe through the k member.

This is my plan for the driver side.. ls1 manifold down and cross over between the trans and oil pan like the stock sbc setup had them, and then run it up to the passenger manifold to meet the turbo in the battery location.

guy on TGO is using 6.0L manifolds flipped, stock K. He did modify them a decent amount though. Also his mounts are made so the motor sites 1/2" lower and 1/2" toward the driver side.

I plan on building mine similar this winter since I have vette accessories as well.

Here is his build thread.... Pretty sweet build

With my aftermarket K-member, F-body accessories, and a manual steering box with an Astro steering shaft, the TrailBlazer manifold might have worked if I cut the outlet off and welded on a V-band changing the location and the angle of the outlet. In the end, I went with some custom tubular headers.

If your wanting to use a factory manifold, you should consider the G8 manifolds. they are pretty tight to the block, and when flipped they provide a good amount of clearance. I have some pictures laying around comparing them to C6 manifolds and the G8 manifolds hug the block tighter than them.

vern, you never said if you still have your stock steering box or rack n pin. i got pa racing k mem and rack n pin on my 91 and used truck manifolds with vbands and it fit perfect. but like ^^^^he said if stock steering box you prob gonna have to make log or put ebay turbo headers on it.

They don't work. I tried 5th gen Camaro shorty headers (same as a G8) and they don't fit.

Shorty's are tubular and take up far more room than factory cast manifolds

G8, which are same as 2010 Camaro etc ? are pretty tight into the block.

I used a truck manifold down and forward and then used a fbody manifold down and forward on the driver side. I did have to relocate my alternator though. I am now going to a twin turbo set up. Im going to actually try my best to make a build thread this time.

Perhaps you're not aware, but we're discussing the 82-92 chassis here. Have you ever attempted to fit forward facing manifolds ON A THIRD GEN? It's the outlet location that is the problem, and that remains the same on manifolds vs shorty headers on the 5th gen/G8 stuff.

Yeah I do have the stock steering box. I wanna to run the turbo setup to where it won't be in the way of a cam swap or accessory part teardown. I'm going with some turbo headers from speed inc. Have pics anyone?

Stainless works makes a set of headers for a third gen LS turbo setup. Which means eBay sells knock offs too.

Maxxmitchell on here used a pair of truck manifolds with his 87 firebird turbo setup. I'm not sure of the details but I'm reasonably certain he didn't do anything weird to the steering box.

I'm going with a manual steering box rack n pinion
