What gears and combo are you running. Mine will be s475 with th400. The rear i purchased has a cracked spider gear and chipped the very edge of the ring gear. They where 373's and i was going to use them to get by.

Ill be running a 27 inch hoosier qtp.

Im going th400 as well. I built my 9" with a 3.18 gear because I wanted the top end for the 1/4. 28" tall tire and that gear with a tight converter should put me around 165mph. More mph if I wanna rev to 7000 and beyond.

I have th400 and 3.73 gears, 30" radials.
@144 mph I'm at 6800
The converter slip plays a role as well.

No clue where I'm at power wise.

3.73 prob fine for you. I'm planning on 3.42 or 3.31 down the road.

For a good guess...

Put the power you think you'll be making and weight in a 1/4 mile calculator.

http://www.wallaceracing.com/et-hp-mph.php

Then select the closest gear to get you there with a little wiggle room. Don't forget to figure 4-7% or so for converter slippage.

I have 3.25's and a 28" tall radial, they work great for street driving and still have managed to cut 1.24 60's at 3800lbs.
