my 99 z28 has been sitting up for awhile now and its time to put it back together. should I rebuild the ls1 with a cam (thinking zr1 cam) or should I just buy a 6.0 out of a truck and build it for a turbo. I definitely wanna do a turbo build. please help

I'd use the aluminum ls1 block up to about 800 rwhp on turbo. The Iron block can take 1100-1200 rwhp on turbo. I made about 600-650 rwhp with a bone stock LQ9 long block and a PT88. Only thing I changed in the longblock was the pushrods. I went 10.0@135 @ 3850#'s bouncing on the limiter at 6200 rpm. I turned the limiter up to 6500 and it blew up first pass. LOL

That's pretty impressive (the 10.0/135) at that weight. Remember how much boost and why it blew-up?

If this is going to be a street car I would keep the aluminum block and forge the internals. As stated the ls1 block is plenty capable of 800+ hp.

im really only hoping for some low 11's but it will still be driven on the street almost like a daily driver since i dont like putting alot of miles on the vette.

Hell you could do a N/A combo that can get you low 11's. All depends on what you want but you don't have to get a turbo to do that at all. But if you wanted to go faster then that at some point would be nice to already have a kit on the car I guess. Bang for the buck wise bottle or H/C can get those results.

yeah i see everybody spraying ill probably do eventually but i want something thats gonna last im not sure what kinda numbers its gonna put down but ive pretty much decided on the turbo. since i was running 13's when it was stock i dont really wanna set my expectations to say im going for 10's but i think 11's should be achievable. its just that everyone at the track that i got to tell me to build the 6.0 truck engine but i just love the ls1
