C5 Z06, going to sell the LS6 for LQ4 with boost, Help needed!
Okay fellas, long story short here :
Bought a Z06 that had just been "built" due to a #7 piston cracking.
6k miles later driver side headgasket was leaking..
Pulled the heads, went to retorque with new gaskets and BOOM! Aluminum block head bolt holes stripped.. (2) pulled the motor and time serted all 20 with steel inserts... but now I'm thinking.. Sell the LS6.
Go LQ4 with a single or twins...
I have someone intersted in the LS6 (forged) for $4,500 cash..
Is that enough to support my build? What all will I need to install a longblock LQ4 and have room for turbos?
Fuel, etc etc

^^^You could drop One in and use your ls6 oil pan intake assembly drive etc. For under well 2k or spend the full 4500 and forge it but don't plan on a motor and turbo setup and everything else for 4500 that's forsure

Sure. Especialy if your freshening it up with ls9 gaskets arp studs etc., it would be as good as any stock ls motor under boost. You could even run a low mileage motor if you really are trying to get it done sooner and cheaper. Nothing wrong with that

What would another forged motor get me at a price of 4,500... The same as my forged LS6 I'd imagine (430whp) .. I want a goal of 700 or better numbers.
NO C5 guys have done this swap apparently?

I need a motor and a turbo or two... 4,500 is reasonable , no?

Ok didn't know you had all that,
Reasonable yes, enough.... proly not
Sounds like you still need Bov, wastegate, intercooler, head studs, tune,gauges..,and if it's goin in a vette you may have to relocate alternator for turbo, and if you go with a truck motor you will need to keep your old accessories/ oil pan/intake(which you think would then mean you get less than 4500 out of your old motor without these parts

Not to mention you will soon later be needing to upgrade your trans, rear end, rotating assembly some were in the future to support the power,
Not trying to discourage you but you sound like me when I started my build and here I am over 20k later , but this is because I went with a ls2 t56 and all new parts like id1000, turbo smart Bob and waste gate,(bullseye billet t4 s475),treadstone intercooler, fast lsx, McLeod rxt/tick master, wide band, boost gauge,Griffin rad/spal fan setup, custom manifolds, bmr turbo k member, comp custom turbo cam,dei blanket, and I had the kit built and installed at a performance shop

Maybe I'd be best keeping the LS6 and spraying it at this point?

That and then just save up for the turbo setup you absolutely want. . My buddy ran his ls1 with trickflow heads,ls6 intake, custom cam, he ran it for 3 years and never got beat (on the street)and never once had a problem. In fact some kid bought it and still races it in Milwaukee, he calls my buddy all the time to let him know how good it still runs.,,
He was making around 600 wheel and no lie he beat every car he races. . Its all about how you plan it and with nos it's really about your SETUP... good fuel psi (your wlbro should be good)and good pressure from the tank(blanket and proper mount)and a good tune. .. nos can be very reliable if setup correct. It can also be Hell if not setup right.

Oh my point was that he ran nos for 3 years and was satisfied. .he waited until he could afford what he wanted(and to do it the right way)he now has a ls3 camaro with supercharger and ALL the mods he wanted. ..
