Default My RCSB Sierra Build. 4 Vehicles, Forged 370, BW480, 4L80E, E85, Million Pictures

When I started this build over a year ago I planned to buy a wrecked pickup and escalade. I was planning to us the rcsb chassis and body with the escalade interior and engine. Wanted 4x4 and a turbo.

So I bought these.

Started tearing them apart.

At the time I thought I would be able to make the 2wd chassis into a 4wd. So I bought a 4x4 4l80e. Put the interior in the truck.

Had some cracks in it so i had to use some duct tape.

Carpet fit like **** with the harness under it. But it is only temp.

Half of the rest of the escalade floor harness. Roof Harness is just as big.

Door Panel

New harness in

Bought a GMC Front clip

I had it running and driving like this. But I wanted 4x4. I couldnt find a wrecked rcsb so I bought a tahoe. I liked the idea of the stock 4 link and a 4x4 frame I could get for cheap. I was going to put the cab on this chassis and shorten the bed to make it work.

Got it home and striped the chassis.

Sandblasted.

Primed

Painted

Picked up a used turbo kit.

I was putting the cam in and didnt like the wear on the cam bearings. It wasnt the copper showing it was the groves in it.

Got some wheels

Picked up a built and forged 370.

Oil feed.

Return

Hot Pipes Wrapped. (Used 100ft and had a little left over.)

I finished the rolling chassis so it was time for the cab to go on.

Came out ok.. there is some light spots.

The new house. The turbo truck and the daily.

I didnt like the truck. Sold everything besides the drivetrain. Needed way to much body work and misc stuff. So I said **** it. Went and bought the cleanest RCSB I could find to put the drive train it. Found a 03 GMC with 70,000 miles on it.

Got right to work on it.

Got it running and driving last week. Runs awesome besides it is blowing coolant out of the coolant reservoir. Has a new cap and no air pockets in cooling system. Has to be a cracked head or gasket. When I drive it and do not get into any boost it will not blow any coolant. So the only time it does is when I am in boost. So it must be just a small crack. I tried a block tester but the results were fine. Any other ways I can test the system?

"I didnt like the truck. Sold everything besides the drivetrain."

When I read this for the second time I almost had a heart attack until I realized that #4 and #5 were the same posting. Loved reading this. Very nice keeping up with the pics. I am not going to be much help with the coolant issue but when someone who can chimes in, the first thing they are going to ask is how much boost/timing and which head bolts/studs? BTW, which Circle D converter are you running?

Ok so I finally got everything done. Pulled the heads and got them pressure tested and surfaced. Found a broken valve spring for who knows why. Put the heads back on and torqued them correctly. Everything seems to be in good order now. I have only put about 10 miles on it because the roads are snowy. Went into boost a couple times and didn't have any weird noises or coolant blowing. Cant wait til it gets warmer out.

Just how difficult was it to pull the cab and leave the fenders attached? This seems like a good idea since I have a lift.

Man, that would be a blast to boot around in the snow in 4wd.
Nice build, truck looks great.
