Default TVS2300 or Huron single turbo for my 99 Formula - thoughts?

I recently acquired a "new to me" 99 Formula (after 5 years of searching).

My last one was a 383 nitrous car...but I plan on a different direction for this one.

Not sure what CI, but will most likely either be a stock CI forged rod/piston LS1, stock CI forged rod/piston LS2, or 383 fully forged LS1 - and forced induction.

Right now, I'm pretty set on either Huron Speed's single turbo A/C system or a Hawks TVS2300 supercharger.

I've been through the pros and cons of both systems in my head, and just can't pick a direction.

I am 100% set on keeping A/C. It will be a car that is probably 80% street use and 20% strip use. My power goal is 650-700 fwhp on pump gas.

Suggestions?

Is the Hawks TVS2300 setup pretty much bolt on and go, or is it a lot more intrusive than that? I just haven't seen many, if any, of those setups on here.

It looks semi-bolt on. From what I gather, you do have to install a custom wiper assembly and modify the cowl area with a weld in box that is supplied with the kit.

I'll have to look at it more. You just don't see many PD blowers on the LS1 cars. I know there was guy doing a big Whipple build, but he ended up going turbo. I think the TVS would be damn fun on a street car, given the instant earth rotating torque, but I'd lean toward the turbo setup, as it's going to be capable of so much more than the TVS setup.

With enough tire the roots is undeniable BIG fun factor as they grunt like a tank. But peak power and overall ease of driving the turbo is probably a better way to go. I too looked into all options and was very close to a whipple 2.9L but opted for a single turbo instead. Plus I always wanted a turbo V8

All good points. I guess it's time to start saving pennies for a turbo.

Can always start with a cheapy with turbos too, which is nice. T4 or T6 singles work well. Lots of info in Denmahs threads on value conscious set ups. I know this much with turbos, spend the money on the fuel system and tuning/management. The rest of it is all going to go boom at some point anyways lol

I may be way off base here, but I'd be willing to bet that the TVS route would cost you more than the turbo route. I just see lots of "unforeseen" issues coming up with the TVS blower. I think if it was as simple as bolting one on, we'd see a ton of those builds on here. If memory serves me correct, I've seen several attempt the roots style blower, and then end up ditching it in lue of a turbo or Procharged setup.
