Default First Turbo build - Help me pick a Turbo

I recently bought a 2000 SS roller that has a lot of suspension and drivetrain upgrades and it will be the perfect platform for me to build a turbo car. After doing some research I called Huron Speed and put my deposit on the V2 A/C Kit but I haven't picked a turbo yet.

So, a little bit about my goals for the car. First off, the car will be an auto and I'd like to do a 4L80E swap. The 4L80E will be attached to a '99 5.3L with stock 241 heads, LS9 head gaskets, new LS7 lifters, LS6 intake, aftermarket valve springs, and a cam I haven't decided on yet. As far as fuel system goes, I'm not sure what to do about a fuel system and if E85 is going to be necessary or not. I would like to make in the neighborhood of 650RWHP with the potential to go for more . For now, I'd also like to keep the stock radiator placement.

I have a good friend who has had a lot of good experience with Garrett Turbos and he recommended the GT42R. He is also a dealer and I can get a pretty good price on it.

When I asked Huron Speed for their opinion, they recommended the PTE 7675cea, Turbonetics T7575, or Comp CT43 7679.

But, I wanted to ask my fellow LS1tech members for their opinion because I'm so new to the turbo game! Help me out!

I'd run a Turbonetics turbo, they've got killer customer service and products! A 75/75 seems a little overkill for your power goals, however, you should be in the peak efficiency area of the compressor, and leaves you a few hundred horse to grow when you're wanting to get greedy

Beautiful car by the way!

And to touch on the other subjects. 650+ can easily be made on regular pump gas, no need for E85, and I'd suggest a BTR Trunion upgrade while you're in there.. Just one more little thing that can go wrong.

I'm a fan of the PTE 7675CEA, I made right around 600whp on 10PSI through an auto but that's on a 6.0L so you may need a a few more lbs on a 5.3. I haven't dynoed it at 20PSI but I turn it up from time to time and she runs hard. I don't think you can go wrong with Garrett turbos either, I used them for years and never had an issue. In this case I liked the PTE better for packaging since they are physically smaller.

I'm running the Aeromotive Eliminator pump and it holds everything I've thrown at it.

Thanks for your inputs everyone. I'm sure there are more people with the same power goals as me, anyone else?!

What was your motor setup? My car will also have a 4L80E and a 9".

Good deal! The 7875 on a 5.3 would be much happier. I was on 14-15 lbs. when mine went 9's as well. That was around 650 rwhp.

Whats the spool like on the 7875? With the 7675 I'm in boost by 2800-3000RPM and at whatever I have the boost controller set to by 3800 RPM whether that be 10lbs or 20lbs. Seems fair amount of guys are making 800-900whp at 18-21lbs, need to get my pig on a dyno.

Does the 7875 have the same room for growth? Guys are making 900+ at 18lbs on the 7675.
