Default Get rid or my Speed INC Tu1? If so replace it with..

Quick background:

My car is a forged 6.0/317 heads with twin precision 6262's. Made 848 wheel through a 6 speed. This was on 17psi and i was out of fuel so couldn't go higher on the boost.

Currently I have a speed inc TU1 cam which i believe is a 225/225 .585/585. My power starts to level and fall off after about 5500. I am currently in the process of changing to a 4l80 trans so the car will need a retune anyway. I am thinking change the cam and put some ID1000's in it? Any advice? If I were to change the cam, any suggestions?

I got my custom cam from Ryne @ CMS who is my tuner, but BTR, Tick, and LJMS all offer great choices and will custom grind you a cam too.

Have you checked springs? Did it always drop off at that rpm or is this new.

Are they shimmed properly? What kind of rockers? Afr in the upper rpms? I ask because that cam should pull more like 6200 before a drop.

Why not the ID1300's if you're already spending the money
Aren't those better with e85? Just in case you ever decide to run it.

I have a TU1 as well and mine makes peak HP at 62-6300. I've hit the 6800 limiter a few times and it certainly doesn't feel like it's running out of steam. Your twins aren't as choked up as my single T4 either.

It more so levels off lower, i just feel like there is more on the table in this setup at lower boost. At 17 I'm at 848/83X on a mustang dyno, so i mean thats good power, just feel like it could be better?

That does sound like it's falling off early for that setup unless there are other underlying issues like others on here have said.

That being said, I am sure there is some power to be made by switching out the cam also. Either LJMS or Martin both make some killer grinds. Talk to either one of them or both and I am sure they will swing you in the right direction.

Can't wait to see what the bird runs this year with the auto! Do you think the Stang will be at the track this tear also?

JT I ran the TU 1.5 last year and it worked out well. I had the TU2 in the RX7 and it worked well too.

I want that mustang so bad. I think it can and will make a killer drag car

+1. Ran 127.38 in the 1/8-mile with 20psi on a 6.0L/TU1/T6 S480 combo and it pulled like a train to 6800 shifts.

Fix the fuel problem and look elsewhere for the issue. A cam upgrade would be nice but I don't think the TU1 is the cause of this issue.
