And another quick update in reagrds to Fuel cell and possible water tank position etc

I took a minute with one of our old fab guys while at the shop yesterday and to be as safe as humanly possible i've decided to ditch the front cell and will go with a set-up like this

http://www.rhodesracecars.com/5-Gall...l_p_11480.html

But i will ask them to position the fuel cell so the sump faces rearward and the outlets for the water tank facing forward with a drain coming out the bottom/rear of the car hopefully to keep any and all fluids behind the tires!

But now will have to cough it up for a Waterman cable drive set-up.

I also took measurements for Bob @ AEI CNC to fab a mounting bracket for the Enderle belt drive portion as i know other may be interested in that so it's in the works!

Oh well at least i got the FP for a great deal

Well after some thought and pricing things out things are changing up as usual after more advice was given to me.

Ended up moving the turbos back towards the engine about 6" and will run the fuel cell up front.

I'm awaiting for some material and aluminum v-bands from Comp for the exhausts to show up tomorrow (possibly bullhornish style exiting in front of the front wheels) to be fab'd up but all that depends upon the spacing for the FP and associated bracketry.

Can't help but to keep giving Bob @ AEI CNC props for coming up with CAD designs for my 1 off set-up he's been great at texting back and forth changing things up as needed and here's what we've come up with so far to clear the header, 3" exhaust out of the turbine housing, water pump outlet, and damper

And i got the fuel cell mocked into position and once we finalize the FP location we'll mount it with 1-1/4" bar for safety but will also try and make a few modifications to the return to help alleviate aeration of the fuel as i expect with this pump it will be returing a **** load of fuel (any recomendation are appreciated but was just planning on plumbing the return to the side of the tank to hit the opposite side wall and drain down but i'm open to placing a tube down into it lower section of the tank as well)

I tried to do as much research as possible but as usual saw many many different good ideas.......

My feed is -12 do you think a -10 vent will suffice?

Go to a -12 vent and it will never be an issue.

That is the plan as i'll have to cut/seal off where the existing return and vent are up top for clearance and will move the return to the side of the tank to have the returning fuel hit the opposite side wall and drain down from there so while we're at it i'll put a -12 vent in as well.

Is Jerry Bickel the only place to sell that vent size?

Only one I know of.

When running a small/tall tank like that, just be sure that the return fuel is not going to disrupt the outlet on the bottom. This can easily become a problem on small tanks like this. Also, the added volume of a belt drive pump makes it even worse.

Don't cut corners on something as simple as a 3 gallon fuel cell, it is just not worth the trouble. It is a small but very important piece of the puzzle on a build like this.

WOW! Time sure does fly my apologies for not updating sooner but life has def. caught up with me lol.

Got my son's 4th bday on Friday and my wife and i are expecting baby boy #2 Jan 6th so needless to say i'm quite busy and have been trying to get this thing out of the shop with the chassis stuff done and over to my other buddy's shop to finish up the rest before it ulitmately goes back for the last few things to be welded etc.

Still a **** ton left but this progress makes me happy as i'll be strapped for time once the baby arrives

Let's see where did i leave off......

Got the turbos fixed in ther perm. location and got the headers welded as well as the WG's attached to the turbo elbows:

While i had time i worked with Bob Ette @ AEI CNC on a solution for my belt driven FP set-up and he came up with an awesome idea to run the ATI damper with the hub that has a cog built into it to alleviate having to run a mandrel off the front of the damper for clearance sake (sorry pics were taken before the crank damper w/ said hub was installed but you get the idea)

Here's the Fab 9" with Stange ultra case, MW 40 spline axles, and Aerospace brakes (had to mock it all up to make sure it all fit together and now i'm in the process of re-painting the housing before it all goes back under the car)

I know this update jumps around but this is exactly how things happen in the real world LOL!

Next up was to get the water tank from Rober @ Chiseled Performance mounted up in the back (-12AN inlet/outlet facing the front, drain facing back, and a rule 2000 water pump to be used for cooling the engine)

Next on the list was a new CM steering column from RJ racecars (1 pin/block joint @ steering rack and 1 mil-spec joint inside the firewall)

After consideration i think i'll add another support bar to make 3 off the dash bar for when i'm holding on to it as the wheels are in the air lol

Next big milestone was to situate the 3 gall fuel cell from Rhodes Racing (this will be modified to run a -10AN return w/ a dip tube that will extend about 2/3 of the way down the tank and also for a -12AN roll over vent valve)

Since it's up front in between the frame rails but still exposed i had the guys build and mount it to 1-1/4" DOM tubing slightly hicker wall thickness than NHRA spec.

Last thing for now was a support bar for the turbos that were just hanging off the headers so the guys came up with this idea (also may come in handy if needing to leave the turbos in place while removing the motor etc)

That's it for now still have these things left to do:

- Remove engine to take heads toff to mill for intake manifold
- Trim mid plate
- Finish charge pipe once heads/intake are back on
- Finish bumper exit exhaust and WG pipes once back in
- Patch up the firewall holes
- Fab up the engine lmiters once all the above are done

Then the fun stuff begins wiring and plumbing

Did you ever think about driving the fuel pump off the other side of the balancer?

Yes if you mean on the front side of it.....if you look back couple pages i actually had a crank mandrel from a BBC machined down to fit the front of the ATI damper but was talked out of it by Bob @ AEI CNC due to proximity of the pipes coming out of the turbine housings and the fact in which the pump/pulley would have to face while building the "standoff" mount from the engine block
