Default Turbo 5.3 gt45 '93 trans-am build.

Hi guys.
Bought a trans am about 12 years ago when i started working. Its a 1993 trans am with a auto lt1 engine. After a few years with a engine upgrade it ran on the track a best of 13.40 NA. With small shot of nos 12.67s. Sold every thing to finish my full cage race car. About 3years ago i starded watching matt at sloppy mechanics a wanted to do the same. I dont liv in the US. So getting parts cost us like twice.
A pic of the car before.

I starded cleaning the engine bay and clearing all wireing thats not needed. Bought a gt45 68mm version. A 4 inch intercooler 50mm godspeed waste gate and BOV.
I got a 5.3 on ebay for $700 shipped. Got a deal for a sponcer on tech cam kit is a 216 with 560 lift on a 114+2 pac 1218 springs with gears and ls7 lifters. Got some stock mls head gasket with ebay head studs.

I bought some exgaust pipes from summit. For the hot side. I used a 2.25 inch and a 3" for tbe down pipe.

I spray coated the pipes and manifolds and heat wrap them twice.

I took the engine apart the check and rebuildt every thing. On my iland there is no engine machine shop to do aome things so its gonna be home rebuild. We normaly rebuild bbc for our race cars so no big deal hahahh.

I repaint the engine bay and intall the engine.

Bought a micro squirt from efi sourse.com with the sloppy turbo tune in it. Did all the wirring stuff myself

Install every thing one step at the time. Took me a few mouths.

Well i bolted a power glide behind it. Its was a broken case one i hat. A got a stock case a transfer all parts in it. The converter is a broken one from my dragster. I took it to a trans shop and the fix it and restall it for this aplication. Its a tranny shop in puerto rico.

Because i know when i will race it i will need roll bars. So i got a kit fron my friend i florida. Chassis engenering and weld that thing at home.

Well i did not go to a dyno. I just started running it with the tunner studio and auto tune it on the road. Car feels so strong. Its my first turbo car so i am learning.
There was a big event this past weekend. A full racing event with cars from Aruba, puerto rico, Venezuela, Holand. And dominican republik. I took the trans am there to see what it can do and it was crazy.
It ran a first pass 10.92 at 121 mph with only 10 psi. No dyno tune.

Then next day i ran 10.74 at 134 mph with 14 psi. So a iam pritty happy with it hahaah.

The tunner studio i realy easy to work with. I just folowd what matt did and went from there. I used tbe stock injector plugs and coil pack plug plus the crank plug. I wired it in the main fuse box from the car it self. So still using the stoch injector fuses en stuff.

Cool build man. My wife is from the Caribbean, and her brother tells me all the time about not being able to get many parts and how high the prices are etc. I went over there a few years ago, and man the "mechanics" there don't know squat! Good job on being able to get it done.

very impressive how you pieced it all together given access to things. Any more details on what you did to that 8.8 to make it work?
