PT88 Who uses it & whats your combo?
I recently picked up a kit with a PT88 for a pretty good deal. Im now trying to decide what motor to use. Goal is 800-900 through a TH400 and 9", Pump gas + meth. Weight is key so I'd like to stay with an aluminum block unless someone can convince me its not worth the weight savings. I have been looking heavily at the L33 after Skinnies results with a billet 7675 and 5.3. Any suggestions? Not too many people seem to use the PT88. Im assuming it's due to the price and the fact that it has a relatively small turbine housing. Considering the relatively cheap price of the S475 and the results everyone seems to be getting.

I currently run a TMS 5.3 aluminum with a PT88 and a built 4L60e. My converter is a bit tight but it spools pretty damn good IMO. I had a bad pre-turbo exhaust leak that was causing massive initial lag but this is what it did at ~700whp. At 15-16 psi we were trapping 140mph in 5900 DA with the pre-turbo exhaust leak.

I've got a pt88. Stock ls1 long block, 4l80, s60, 93 pump. Haven't had it down the track yet but runs strong. Once I get a converter and meth it will be ready to rock.
Guy I got it from is on here. Went 9.01 on e85 non intercooler 6.0 with a th400 in a second gen.

Mine was corner scaled at 3281 (no one inside it) last time we weighed it. Only thing removed was AC and rear seats. Still retains both factory front seats (with power/leather), all carpeting, HVAC, blah blah. Stock wheels/tires (heavy) up front as well.

Thats good news. I hope I'll be around there when I'm done. 9" weighs more than 10 bolt but I'll be deleting power steering and a few other things in addition to your list.

My car weighs 3250, with 9", 3.5" aluminum DS, tubular front everything, Manual rack, Subframe braces, Heavy tq arm and mounts etc. I've added a lot of weight with the rear suspension pieces, but I think my 9" weighs close to the 10 bolt being a fabbed housing with aluminum center section and spooled with lightened 35 spline axles.

Any suggestions on getting the weight down even further without breaking the bank? Im thinking about pulling the front leather seats in favor of some light aluminum seats. Wheels are Bogart RR10's. 17x11 & 17x7. They are pretty light for being the size they are( vompared to the TT2's I used to have.

I have kirkeys and they saved around 18lbs per side i believe. Bumper supports are 20lbs each, spare tire and AC under hood parts are 38lbs each. Those are the biggest 4 free savings. also dropping full exhaust for bumper dump is around 60lbs
