I'll hop right on this bandwagon and say that I will never buy anything from NRE just because of how obnoxious that guy is. Hes one of those people whos presence just bothers me.

That being said, he does have a name in the industry and I think its cool he gave denmah a shout out. Its pretty clear he respects Matt for doing things his way, on the cheap and still goes fast.

That was border line a dig at Matt, but saves himself.

You can tell he's not real thrilled about the idea of a $1000 motor competing with his $50000 motors.

The sloppy way of doing things doesn't challenge, show up, or compete with Tom Nelson's business. Two totally different target audiences. NRE builds high quality, reliable, visually appealing drivetrain packages targeted to a high end client. Sloppy is for the DIY guy that wants to build a fast bomb, like myself.

I didnt take it as a dig. I took it as props. "Giving hotrodding back to the people" as Matt says lol

So broke asses like myself can watch the NRE vids, drool, then scrape together a few grand and go build a 10 second hotrod in the dirt behind the shed. Tom Gets that not everybody can build a $200k+ 2000+ HP daily driveable show car, and is obviously glad somebody like Matt can show the commoners the path to affordable horsepower.

Have to remember that NRE isn't just an engine shop, it's a complete car customizing shop. I'm not commenting on their quality or value, but their cars do look pretty damn nice in person. I was able to check out a couple of them last year at SEMA, and they are nice.

Well said. To me, the guy owns a top end shop but realizes not everyone can afford what he specializes in. I would say hes giving props.

He's not the only one selling 50k motors. Most the big name motors are that. **** my engine guy builds 410 sprint motors at 40k a piece, and like 15k for a freshen up. I seen a post somewhere that a proline engine set up with fuel and all would run at least 70k. I feel Tom is at a level like no other, the ability to turn out the cars he does is just amazing and has an entirely different audience then the average guys like us.

The people buying 50+K racing engines for knowledgeable racing teams and those that are buying engines from Nelson are not the same people from what I have seen. The ones buying from Nelson are part of the more money than brains club and know little of how to put an engine together. They are also drawn to the personality of Nelson which I do not understand. BTW, I would also bet that most "average guys" know the difference between "then" and "than".

One of them grammar ****'s ehh? Never liked the subject honestly. In my world of work I don't need to have proper grammar. As long as I can keep them alive for the 20 min. flight we have the day is good. So in other words, I don't care if its then or than, there or their.

Well I have to admit that you are right and I am wrong because you have produced the evidence that he does indeed build race engines that can and do compete with the best.
