Two 5.3's, & a 100mm Turbo... First off, I like the bazaar. More outlandish the better. I got this idea from watching tractor pulls for decades, so bare with me. I have a few 5.3's laying around & I have a friend that has a 100mm turbo laying around, enough for 1200HP+. The idea's to take two 5.3's & join them front to back, essentially making a 10.6L, V-16. That should make about 600HP. Slap on the 100mm & run 16PSI on E85. Bam! 1200HP for dirt cheap. I have a decent handle on how to join them(tractor pulls remember), but... What to put it in? |
OK, I'll go first. My first thought was an air-boat. Or build cab-forward tube chassis... |
Mid engine mounted box van. lol |
I thought about an Astro-van. What I'm thinking in an automotive application is, because the thing would be a torque monster, is link the engine, through a properly stalled converter, directly to the rear diff. Have it idle @750 & have the converter come on at 1100-1200RPM, & rise from there. |
why..... |
Because I like like to do things different. "..& I, I took the path less traveled by..." |
Why all the effort when you can do 1200hp on a single 5.3L for dirt cheap. If you really wanted to go to all the effort to link stuff together I would slap two 100mm on it and set a goal for at least 2000hp. |
Think, Cheap. I'm talking JY. Truck manifolds & all. Stock cam, heads, intake, etc. That's why the airboat struck me. Very little perifferals & I have uncles into air boating & both are intrigued to try it. |
1970 Lincoln Continental. One of the few cars that has enough engine bay... comes with a 9" rear too. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/ls1tech...e8bdd29039.jpg |

Cruisin in style, Ha. |
Definitely some sort of minivan mid-engine setup, with a 4WD system stolen from a truck, and a long front driveshaft to a Dana 44 or something. |
