Default S10 5.3 DIY Single Rear Mount Turbo Build

First LS Turbo Build here and got some questions

Details:
-2002 Stock Bottom End 5.3 Iron Block
-Fresh 317s
-230/232 .595/.585 112LSA Cam (Had it laying around)
-4L65e Built to the hill
-Yank Custom Converter
-8.8 Rear

Plan is to run shorty LS swap headers and the exhaust into a FlowMaster Merge collector and up into the Bed, right behind the Cab (Ext Cab Truck) Mount the Turbo and run the charge pipe back up from to a FMIC....

Question's
-Who's a good dealer to work w to get a Borg Warner or Master Power Turbo
-What Size Turbo that will spool nicely on the street and make big power
-What size exhaust pipe size from the headers to the Merge Collector?
-What Size Charge Pipe to run back up from the Turbo to the FMIC

Thanks!

317's on a 5.3 will be quite a big compression drop, You are going to want that extra compression on a reamount IMO.

I have kicked around doing a rearmount myself. As far as specifics go, do a search for BlackX. He has a Xtreeme with a rearmount setup and runs in the 8's. In his beginning stages, he did not run a FMIC because the air charge cools from the rear to the front, basically like a IC.

CR will still be around 9.75:1
I was gonna try and keep the Exhaust speed up by using 2.5/2.75'' from the headers to the Merge Collector was the idea, didn't know if I was on the right track or not tho
I searched that name on here and it didn't come up w anything...

I don't know where you came up with the CR. In 02, the 5.3's didn't come with flat tops to my knowledge yet. I think that started in 05'ish. Even with flat tops, I don't think it will be 9.75:1. I am in no way trying to be a jerk, as I may be wrong, just want you to be sure before you blow $, and then have lower compression that expected.

Here is a previous post on this exact issue.

I believe your mistaken on the compression as well. Are your 317's milled? Flat top or dished pistons?

My dished piston 5.3 with LS9 gaskets and 317's was around 8.65:1. That's a very forgiving compression ratio. Lots of room for tuner error and a great place to start for "newbs". I really liked my low compression setup. Was just as fast as my 10:1 5.3 ET wise. Just needed more boost to get it there. Put both engines into the 8's.

Since you're on a gen3 I'd suggest keeping it at 600whp or less. You have the right idea with keeping velocity up, but your piping sizes are off. Neck each header down to 2" at the collector. Then run it into a dual 2" to 2.25" to a T4 turbo of some sort. What is your turbo budget?

Cheap twins in the back with 2" pipe from each manifold feeding them work better than a single.

Merge like so..
